Davion Mitchell should be a target if the Kings want to build around Fox & Halliburton.

Anfernee Simone’s is going to be hard to keep, if Dane and CJ are on Portland. The Knicks have to give up something of value. Anfernee Simone’s is a nice fit with this team.

To make a 3 team deal to land Collins or Sabonis in Portland.

When Morey lowers his ask to a top 200 player, we might be able to swing a Randle for Simmons trade.

Gonna need to lower his expectations to top 300, really.

They need Randle. Just saying.

(Randle for Simons, Little and Nance. They have all sorts of fillers so salaried can easily be matched.)

Simons, RJ, Cam, Obi, Mitch

Dame, CJ, Covington, Randle, Nurkic

I like the idea a lot.

Keep asking myself, if we refuse to rebuild, which is the unfortunate truth. Is there any way to have a backcourt of Shai and Anfrenee Simons? Portland can use Randle if they are not going to retain Simons maybe throw in IQ. OKC is not on Shai timeline. So how many draft picks would that take to get him.

It does not make sense to trade Shai. Being in the same timeline means: the team must be competitive before Shai hits 30 or the end of his contract. Shai is only 23 years old and has contract for the next 5 seasons. Giddey is 19 but he is already pretty good.

The next rookies from OKC can demand more time to evolve than Giddey. But it can be easier for OKC to just trade the rookies and picks for more vets and build around Shai and Giddey. It is foolish to trade Shai waiting for the next rookies being equally great than him.

As matter of fact, OKC has an asset consolidation problem. Too many low picks and questionable young players like Poku. They need top-end talents (just like us).

I say the same thing about Haliburton and Zion.

No one trades top-rated rookies for a lot of so-so assets (like raw rookies and bad picks) thinking about the possibility that you draft future stars with the picks and developing the raw rookies. It is not the probable development. Franchises only trade top rookies for stars (PG13, Love, etc).

I think it's obvious he wants Haliburton more than Fox, and if they trade with the Kings and Fox is involved they're sending him somewhere else for a wing/forward.

It would take 2 draft picks

Step 1: Build a time machine

Step 2: Go back to 2018

Step 3: Draft Shai instead of Knox

Step 4: Trade up from 36 to 24

Step 5: Draft Simons

See, 2 draft picks.

2021-22 Contract details by year 32 $18,218,818
2022-23 Contract details by year 33 $19,568,360
2023-24 Contract details by year 34 $20,917,902

Contract Notes:
2023 non-guaranteed, fully guaranteed for All-Star team or 500 min (reg)/750 (reg/playoffs) + HOU Championship
(@Wojnarowski) (@BobbyMarks)

My concern is how attached Thibs would be to him but at least he'd be an upgrade in theory to Burks.

We have the extra picks. We have a win now mentality. We have the disposable contracts. We love playing older guys. I'm surprised we're not looking at him.

I actually think Berman wrote something back when we played them in like December that we had interest in Gordon, but it's Berman so you know...

Could be smoke there though. He was AAU teammates with D Rose and they are widely regarded as one of the best AAU teams ever. With how we now know Leon operates I wouldn't be shocked if he asked Rose for his input on a trade for him and he would give the ok.

Noel and Burks works I think salary wise amongst other combinations. We have the right contracts to consolidate for him. Just a matter of how attached they are to getting a 1st because the Knicks shouldn't cough up another one this year IMO unless it's for a true borderline all-star or super juiced role player...Maybe they settle for a Det 2nd instead?

That’s the combination I was thinking for the salary ballast. Maybe we could add another 2nd to the DET 2nd.

We should talk Simons for Randle into existence. Shai is a pipe dream, but Simons, RJ, Cam, Obi, Mitch… man that sounds great. Too good to be true actually - a real identity.
