MessiahUjiri wrote:The Warriors are clearly in it to win it, but they have a couple of holes: They have no capable backup PG, Klay might miss games due to load management, and they need help at the 4/5.

The Raptors want to win later, and they’re looking to get future oriented assets.

The trade:
Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody (+ salary filler)

for

Gary Trent Jr, Chris Boucher, Goran Dragic, Malachi Flynn

New look:

Steph / Flynn / (Dragic)
Trent Jr / Dragic / Poole
Klay / Porter Jr / Iguodala
Dray / Boucher / (Porter Jr)
Wiseman / Looney / (Boucher)

They become a more dynamic backcourt, with pieces that complement their core. Trent is good for 16-18ppg, Dragic is good for 12-15ppg, and Boucher is good for 15 and 7. Flynn is a capable young backup as Steph ages out and plays fewer minutes.

Instead of star chasing, I think this makes more rational sense. They get help now, and they retain Wiseman as a prospect. Trent (23 years old) and Flynn (also 23 years old) are young players under contract for multiple seasons.

For the Raptors, Wiggins is a hometown kid who gets another shot at delivering on his promise. Moody and Kuminga are both great prospects as they load up on a core that can compete in 2-3 years.

Raps:

Fred / Scottie / Banton
Wiggins / Moody
Anunoby / (Scottie) / Watanabe
Siakam / Kuminga /
Birch / Achiuwa

Backup PG is a little weak, but we get a net upgrade by letting go of Flynn. Scottie and Banton can hold it down for 12-15 mins.

Nurse can unlock so many crazy lineups with this roster (or package them for a future trade).

I can hear Masai salivating.

Lmao no way warriors do this this is such a ripoff lmao

we need to trade fred for 2 picks and a prospect. He is too small to guard bigger guards.
Will demand max money and we are all capped out. He is the best assets we have now.

Yup you got me there. I cant find any video of it, just a few articles.

Still think Masai is too busy savvy to let emotions get in the way. If a good deal is on the table, I'm guessing Masai and Bobby listen.

Read on Twitter
?
We should stop including Precious in "proposed" trades. We could revisit in another year.
Precious is literally the poster boy of Masai's vision with GIANTS OF AFRICA program (and Basketball without borders)
Unless Precious "does a madness", he is not getting traded anytime soon.

Was hoping you had a video or audio link or something. Saw the tweet and the articles that followed.

Definitely seems like he is a fan and has roots with the Giants program.

But again. It's a business. You need to be able to seperate good business practice from emotions. That is all.

why not FVV and a first?

Murray would be replacing Fraud. No way Fraud let's another PG come in and succeed on this team.

that would be a dream but I'm assuming they want no parts of Fred. Not sure why they would move Murray but if it's for a true full rebuild they would want Barnes back.

To Bulls: Boucher
To Toronto: Barnes, Hield, Holmes, Haliburton, White

Vanvleet/Haliburton/Barnes/Siakam/Holmes

They need a PF, what about Patrick Williams? Then the Spurs could really tank for Chet, or Jabari.

Spurs get: Patrick Williams, Derrick Jones, Troy Brown, Malachi Flynn and 2022 1st pick (Chi)

Bulls get: Fred Van Vleet, Chris Boucher and 2022 2nd pick (SA)

Raptors get: Dejounte Murray and Thaddeus Young

Dislike. We might be giving up the best 2 players in this trade (and possibly 3 if the FRP turns out great).

I would trade Flynn and Boucher to gamble on Coby White.

As would I,
But I think given the Bulls are without Ball and Caruso for the next little while,
dealing White makes them pretty thin.

I love this package for Trent

I feel that 2027 lakers 1st round pick could be very valuable. Maybe more valuable than trent.

Dead serious.

- Trent has only one more guarantee year
- Dragic is expiring
- Flynn isn't playing
- Boucher is expiring

The only valuable guy we're giving up here is OG and while I love him a LOT, Haliburton is a very young player on a cheap controllable deal that has star potential. Not to mention we'd be getting White who is also young and a good scorer off the bench. Barnes expires next year, and Hield expires the year after.

THT is an ok prospect that's having a down year and currently overpaid. Nunn hasn't even played a game for them yet, and is bench material.

Likely Lakers would protect that pick because its so damn far into the future. If we can get them to cough up an unprotected pick or at the minimum a very lightly protected pick then it's a different story. Also, we should ask them to sprinkle on some 2nds lol.

Main reason I would even consider the trade is because I don't want to pay Trent 20M+ on his next contract.

yup. pretty laughable. i'd trade Dragic to them if they want.

Dragic
Flynn

for

THT
Nunn
Doumbouya
Bazemore
1st

gets the Raps under Tax threshold i believe.
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

Its also a strange amount of salary to match;
Its 14.5m which is a lot but not enough to take on some of the more putrid contracts tied to okay yet overpaid players.

If the deadline is an hour out a team like Orlando would be crazy not to take that sort of deal for a guy like Ross.
