Isn't Brunson rumored to be looking for 80/4 yrs? Mavs also top 4 in defense. Not sure how much use they'd have for Smart when Kidd seems to have righted the ship there. Brunson's a key part of their success past couple of seasons.

Dallas wants to move Tim Hardaway Jr., I'm sure we could get him for Horford

Horford and Schroder
for
Burkes, THJ is a huge win for both teams

2 deals
1st) THJ and Burke for Horford
2nd) Schroder into TPE for asset-2nd? 2nds?

Smart/Pritch/Burke
THjr/Richardson
Brown/Nesmith/Romeo
Tatum/Grant
Timelord/Kanter/Bruno

Makes too much sense not to happen.

We would end up being about 7.5 million under lux tax so we can use a TPE to upgrade bench bigman depth IE: JEff Green

THJ no thanks. My Knicks buddy HATED him. he's a gunner...tunnel vision. Not sure his style fits in well with the J's...certainly not going to compliment them

I would think he would have free range to launch off of the kickouts from the Jays.

SO might be a good thing that he is a gunner.

Although he shooting has dipped pretty bad this year.

I guess my lack of enthusiasm didn't come through. It's a huge loss for us, major salary commitment (three more years!) to a 29 year old player who'd be a questionable acquisition even shooting like he did the last two years. Only way you do it is if you want to have a salary chip over the cap for trades - like, need to spend the money on something and don't have better options - and are willing to gamble on THJ recovering offensively. You're basically turning Kemba's money into 3.5 years of THJ at 18 million.

Lakers trade Russell Westbrook, Picks (1st and a 2nd)
gets: Horford, Favors, Schroder
Lakers get clear upgrades here.

OKC trades K. Williams, Muscala, Favors, Maledon
gets: Westbrook and Picks from Lakers and 2nds from boston
Thunder brings Russ back, close up the gap in salary below the floor and stay below Tax. Continue to draft and build for Future.

Houston trades Eric Gordon and a 2nd
Gets: TPE and Aaron Nesmith
Houston sheds alot of Salary, adds a young player to space the floor beside Green.

Boston Trades: Horford, Schroder, Nesmith, 2-2nds
gets: K. Williams, Muscala, Maledon and Eric Gordon
Boston sheds some salary and adds some floor spacing.

Smart/Pritchard/Maledon
Gordon/Richardson/Romeo
Brown/K.Williams/
Tatum/G.Williams/Bruno
R.Williams/Muscala/Kanter

Still have
Dozier
BolBol

2wp
Hauser
Thomas

And have TPEs of
17.1 (Fournier)
9.1 (Thompson)
7ish million (This deal)

That's actually a good trade for us, it's just not something OKC is likely to do.

Well I thought about that.

Westbrook was/is loved there
They are well below the floor and will lose alot of money should they not meet it.
(34 Million below the Cap. Westbrook makes 44 million, outgoing is 17 million. That keeps them 8 or so million below the cap. This allows them to share in the Tax MOney from other teams.

Instead of paying ~20 million to its players for being under the floor, OKC now gets Picks, Brings back a fan favorite in Westbrook and shares in the Lux tax sharing payment.

I heard somewhere the tax sharing amount is looking like 15 or so million this year, so this, basically, makes/saves ownership a combined 35 million

You only get luxury tax money if you meet the salary floor?

Is there anything close for a BOS/UTA/MIA deal? Something like:

BOS
IN: Duncan Robinson
OUT: Richardson, Schroder

UTA
IN: Richardson, Morris
OUT: Ingles

MIA
IN: Ingles, Schroder
OUT: Robinson, Morris

I'm trying to keep Marus and Al but add another shooter. Maybe there could be a similar deal for Joe Harris?

edit: I'm aware that Richardson is shooting better than Robinson this year but I still think defenses would respect Robinson more if that makes sense

OKC has plenty of ways to get to the salary floor (and generate a huge trade exception) without taking back Westbrook. Too bad the Celtics could not trade Horford back to the Thunder before next June.

How far under the floor are they? The incentive for them would be picks from LA

Not a good deal for Boston or Miami. Utah would be all over that

They probably could but it would take the Celtics 2022 1st round pick to get OKC interested. Horford was traded to the Celtics in the 2020-2021 NBA season before the NBA switched to the 2021-2022 season.

23 Million under floor

This trade adds them 44 Million-17 Million in Salary

edit: They may get the lux tax payment either way.

Cannot find the exact ruling, but it is worded as "teams currently not paying tax get it" but IDK about a team below the floor. Seems like a potential loophole/grey area there.

They can take back Horford

And yeah, lots of ways to get to the floor but it all involves taking on more money than they send in a trade.

Unless they want to take a currently unsigned player and just give him a 1 year 20 million dollar contact, but I am not sure how that would work

Thats is the leader this team needs.

Problem is that it's coming from the 3rd best player on the team/5th or 6th best player on an actual contender. This message needs to come from Tatum. The NBA is different from any other sport where it's so superstar driven that you can have 10 Marcus' on the team and it won't work if the superstar doesn't go for it. I don't hate the player (Marcus) but I do think after a while of being in the locker room the players message runs its course. They really need to move on and build around Tatum and Brown.
