Re: Trade Ideas thread
That would depend a lot on how Davis looks when he gets back and which starting caliber SF we can pluck out with THT and picks. The 2027 first, if lightly protected should go a long way.
By the way Houston’s got to be trolling if they ask draft compensation to exchange same salaries for a player they do not wish to play and will not entertain a buyout. I can’t believe Marc Stein reported it with a straight face.

Sure... How? Who can afford to take $45M/yr in trade other than Houston? Because no.
I've gone through the league and trade machine and I can only come up with 1 team other than Houston (which would be a negative unless we get draft compensation).
To Orlando:
Russ, THT, Ellington, 2027 1st (Top 4 Protection) to Orlando for Gary Harris, Fultz, Ross
Then you could make some corresponding moves. Baze and x2 2nd round picks to OKC for Kenrich Williams. Ariza for Millsap. Cut DeAndre if Thad Young becomes available in a buyout
Starting line-up:
Williams, Ross, LeBron, Thad Young, AD
Rotation bench: Monk, Reaves, Stanley, Melo, Millsap
Deep bench: Dwight, Bradley, Harris
Wild cards: Fultz, Nunn
Without a trade for Grant and keeping Westbrook, this is our only chance. Lean heavy into Bron/AD and put shooting and D around them.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
Apparently, we offered THT + Nunn + 2027 first-round pick for Grant, which is probably the best package we can offer. Detroit declined thus far and is waiting on better packages.

Does WB have an extra year left compared to Wall?

Wall and Westbrook have identical contracts. Both are making roughly $44 million this season and have player options for roughly $47 million next season, so the only reason to trade for him is you think the team is better. But Wall isn't playing at all, so he's a mystery and he's also not a good shooter, so... why would we trade for him at all let alone plus draft assets?

Houston is clueless if it thinks it can get significant asset for a dude that is injury prone and hasn’t played in 2 year
If wall was playing and producing numbers and being healthy was another scenario

Would Toronto entertain trading Scottie Barnes for a superstar in ANTHONY DAVIS
Barnes ... And expiring contracts of Dragic, boucher
Maybe add THT and get Gary Trent

That's helpful to know. The reasons to trade for him are: 1) Westbrook is a bad fit in so many ways for this team. There are two chiefs, and they need eight little Indians (so to speak). 2) Wall is more a traditional, past-first guard. He averaged 9.6, 8.7, and 6.9 assists the past three seasons. That would work much better with the two chiefs, and also compliment the other role players like Reaves, Howard, Horton-Tucker, Anthony, and Monk.
Apart from the whole concept of roster construction, the melodrama surrounding this team needs to come to an end.

This is interesting... Aside from all the moving pieces, it seems almost reasonable... That said, the main attraction for Laker fans I think would be getting rid of Westbrook... We give up a lot for a non-entity and Harris... And I'm not sure Harris is that great a fit next to LeBron and Davis...
But no Westbrook tho...
So, I think if it happened I'd mostly be curious to see how it all worked out.

Philadelphia says no.
They'd be giving up Simmons (plus Harris) and the prize return would be John Wall and Christian Wood.
Morey didn't wait all this time for John Wall and Christian Wood. He wants a headline.
They actually get worse after this trade.
My trade is more realistic.
In my scenario, even though the Sixers would have to buyout Westbrook, Philadelphia still gets Anthony freakin' Davis (plus Tucker, Monk, and Jordan) and the Lakers get Simmons, Harris, Green, and Thybulle (plus Springer).
They replace Harris' lengthier contract with Westbrook's bought out contract -- a win financially.
They replace Harris' PF spot on the current roster with Anthony Davis -- a win on the court.
Even though they don't replace Simmons' playmaking in this deal, they still get better.
... and the Lakers get better too:
PG - Bradley - Nunn
SG - Green - Reaves
C - James - (Simmons)
PF - Simmons - Harris
SF - Thybulle - Johnson

Re: Trade Ideas thread
Jerimi Grant is good and all
He is more than a 3 &D player. IF you ask him to come to LA and return to the 3 & D role to support LBJ, AD & Westbrick, will he be satisfied? Beware of the fact that his contract is going to end after this season. He is looking for a big contract. If we use a hefty price to get him from the Piston and lose him for nothing in the offseason, I can't accept it.
From Stanley Johnson, we all knows that we are lacking of size, intensity, defense and hustle on the court. Grant is premium. But we can add some more Stanley Johnson type of player. One of the main problem of the lakers this season is defense and effort. Our opponents are getting open looks and shoot with high percentage, always higher than their average shooting percentage. We should target for size, defense, mobility and hustle, preferably with some respectable shooting.
Playing LBJ to the center give you some more space and the whole team run smoother. Will it be an indication if a big with shooting ability and some rim protection ability suit us very well? Shall we target some of these type of players. Again, not necessarily elite and any of the above category, like a turner level player, but to the extend that they are effective and respectable on the court.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
This team is designed to be LeBron and top-5-player, and top-3-big-man, AD, and complimentary pieces... If AD isn't that guy, Grant and Harris, won't really do much for us... So I'd rather see where AD is before I pulled the trigger on any trades...
Dumping everything of value for Grant, to try to shoe-horn him into a fundamentally dysfunctional lineup with AD, LeBron and Westbrook, would be silly...
But if AD is back to form, LeBron can settle down a bit and focus on being more of a 2 way player, and Westbrook can be sixth man, maybe Grant/AD/LeBron would work...
I don't think the deal has a chance, but even if it did, it'd feel a bit like a desperation/distraction move...

I agree that this reaks of desperation. The fit works; it will improve the team, but it doesn't fix the underlying issues with the team.
Do we really even trust Pelinka's judgment right now? I don't. He managed to piece together a championship team by signing new guys like Danny Green, Jared Dudley, Dwight Howard, and Markieff Morris. Then he resigned a bunch of Magic's guys in McGee and Rondo, but since that summer he's gotten far too cute.
It's amazing to me that it's taken him multiple years to sign a defensive small forward (Stanley Johnson) when it's been a need from day one. This dude has a lot of blindspots.
The Westbrook trade is worse than the Nash trade, historically bad. I don't trust this guys judgment. The Westbrook trade and this season is a fireable offense.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
A guy we should target is Lou Dort. Im not convinced Presti is married to anyone there outside of SGA .
THT , 1st , Doumboya for Dort, Favors
Presti gets a guy that fits his time line (21yo) plus a pick that could be lotto. Moves a vet that isnt even playing. If he demaned unprotected id try my best to talk him down to top 5 , then top 3 protection the following year
Russ
Reeves
Dort
LeBron
Davis
Or even slide him to the 2 and start stanley
Russ
Dort
Stanley
LeBron
Davis
Id go to war with that in a 7 game series....if we lose we lose fk it
