Does this get the Poeltl trade done?

To Spurs: Birch, Flynn, 2023 2nd
To Raps: Poeltl

I feel like Pop would love Birch, and he's under contract for a reasonable price the next 3 years. Flynn and the 2nd are sweeteners.

I think he's a solid target.

Young and a pretty good scorer. Something around Boucher would have been good for both teams but with the Bulls low on PGs right now (Ball and Caruso are out), my fear is that the time for that deal has passed.

In terms of tradable contracts, our assets are limited at the moment. If we're going to move all of our tradable salary outside of the core guys, I would really hope we could do a little better than Jalen Smith.

I'm not sure how likely this is but I think we need a bigger move right now. Even after Boucher and Dragic expire (assuming they're not moved), we're still over the cap. My thought is if we're going to be over the cap anyway, might as well use those contracts to bring in a guy (or guys) who can actually change the trajectory of this team, either now or in the future.

They have Eubanks who is probably close to Birch for 1/3 the price for the next 1.5 seasons vs 2.5 Birch.

I'd love to find a way to put together a trade package for Ayton, the challenge is our contracts versus what PHX would want are hard to match. PHX would want a big or a 3rd scorer.

OG for Ayton I don't hate. The challenge is we'd have to pay Ayton BIG money the following season. From a roster balancing perspective I don't love it. If there was a Siakim for Ayton trade available I think that'd make more sense. I just don't see how that money works without a 3rd team.

Birch is the worst contract on the team.. horrible offseason signing.

Is this a joke?? He's making 6 mill a year and is EASILY worth that (and more) when healthy, he's just had some bad luck. 6 mill is nothing

Agreed, when he's healthy, which I think he will be in a few weeks or so, he'll likely be worth that AAV

If we decide to throw in the towel this season,

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9rh47gm

Trade:
FVV

for

D Jones Jr
P Williams
T Brown Jr

We add two young players into our developmental system. The bulls solidify their backcourt. With Ball/Caruso being out for minimum 6-8weeks (maybe longer), this gives them an insane starting backcourt. When Ball is back, they shift FVV to the 2 as an off ball scorer. Lavine is your 3, Demar the 4, Vuc the 5

They'll be really good with FVV, wonder if we can add Boucher to the mix and get a FRP as well.

not a fan of Fox. Also I think there would have to be a follow up trade for Fred in this case.

By way of very minor and very inconsequential moves at the deadline;

Assuming Flynn is on his way out and not used as sweetener;

How about something as simple as Udoka Azubuike for Malachi Flynn.

Same draft, same years remaining on their rookie deal, Jazz get some guard depth, we get some C depth.

would be hard for them to trade Dosunmu the way he is coming on I think.

They do have a problem at PF though. I wonder if we could send them Siakam for these young talents though. They could really win right now with Ball, LaVine, deRozan, Siakam and Vucevic.

I don't love Fox but I do think in the right scenario he could grow into a really good player. I agree that FVV would likely be on his way out as well unless a FVV and Fox could somehow co-exist
