I agree about Judge. Mara did not want to fire him. Judge killed himself.
Of course there is prob talk of the Giants having a Black Coach. There actually could be bad press of having Flores on the Market and not Hiring when many feel he is the best coach out there right now on the market. It would really put a spotlight on this process league wide. NY media says Daboll, but I am sure the Poll nationally is why not Hire Flores he is there for the taking. Most Pundits said he derives a shot in this cycle again. Many considered him not a retread.
What I will say about Flores. He is proven to be a worthy Candidate thats for sure. I want every thing about his hire to be based on Merit personally.
agreed and that is why any of these rules that put speculation that your interviewed or hired a minority just to satify a rule kinda diminishes a lot of these guys work. They put in real time and deserve legit shots (while the intention of the rule is good). The fact people have to ask if its merit based with some is demeaning. I could go on a long tangent but I wont.
I like Flores...I'm not sure I love how the relationship with his GM ended (kinda can't blame him for not liking Tua...Tua is mid tho)
But Flores also really wanting Watson...I'm not sure Mara can deal with the media attention and his off the field stuff so Flores would have to back off that request.
He is only 40. Thats mad young for an NFL coach who already has 3 years in. He is still learning. By Default Flores HAS to change for the simple fact that THIS would be his dream job. He could basically be Tomlin in NY and be here till forever. It would be so historical for Flores, a Black Kid from Brownsville to be the coach of NY Giants. He would never want to ruin that. He knows he cant rebel against the FO like he did in MIA. He WANTS this. You know that. He wont be pushing the Giants to get Watson. He knows he can't repeat the SAME things he did in MIA. Forget about the Giants, it just wont look good for him. He could kill his coaching career, as you can't work with him.
He has a chance to redeem himself. He knows this, trust me. You dont come from Brownsville and not recognize the opportunity he has right now. I personally expect a killer interview. He will work with Schoen...if he wants to be successful, he HAS to. He understands this in NY. The stakes are waaaaaaaay to high for him. Im sure he will "bend" to be in tune with Schoen.
Flores in Ny will send shockwaves in the NFL. Especially the communities that's just like where he comes from. Alot of inspiration would come from it from these areas.
This wouldn't be the simple hiring of a black coach like in many other places/teams. This would be different. It would be a black head coach of the NY FOOTBALL GIANTS. The positivity that could come from that would he huge.
I do agree that would be huge. And regardless of the color of his skin Flores is qualified for being the HC of the NY FOOTBALL GIANTS. But yes it would be a big moment I do agree.
Imagine that with then Bryce Young or CJ Stroud...
I know Geno Smith started for the giants 1 game...but that doesn't count.
