The real story to me is the difference in this equation.
Westbrook+Monk = Caruso+Green

Objectively Westbrook+Monk should be better than Caruso+Green but impact stats show a big downgrade. Caruso+Green provide elite level defense and don't hurt you on offense.

Howard is much worse than he was then, and KCP is much better than Reaves.

I disagree on Howard but yeah KCP is probably better than Reaves.

Westbrook, Monk, Reaves < Caruso, KCP, Green

No he wasn't, he was a very effective backup 5 apart from being too foul-prone.

another issue beyond the defensive downgrade without much offensive improvement back in westbrook trade isa health

lakers have been much less healthy than even 2021 and failed to play many games together which is gonna be a killer in playoffs wven if everyone is miraculously healthy

If LeBron is about to miss games, this season is done. Might as well call it a short sabbatical like the Warriors did after 2019 and start planning for the next.

People focus on Westbrook a lot but I still maintain that signing Caruso over THT was the biggest mistake.

Caruso would have helped out Westbrook a lot on the defensive end. Caruso would be a starter and the obvious POA defender.

Westbrook, Caruso, Monk, LeBron, Davis would have been a great 5.

somethingh i just noticed

LeBron in 2022 is shooting: 3-10 feet 49% (career best), 10-16 feet 45% (career best), 16-23 feet 40.5% (2nd best) at 36/37 years old

he is not only good for lebron, he is legit good overall from midrange now, better than league average by a pretty decent margin

btw lakers should consider signing goran dragic

Durability might be a serious concern for Caruso thats not talked about enough. Hes only played over 60 games in 1 season

Getting Dinwiddie would be worth the pick.
