Who is the everyone else though?

Grimes?

Fournier and RJ get minutes.
Mitch gets minutes.
Cam will be gone, so it's not him.
IQ at PG? Yay!
McBride?

The other aspect about the Halliburton deal that’s disappointing is that there is no way this front office is simply sending Randle out for contracts that are much shorter. Even if they don’t get back the value they believe, they can’t see that it’s best for the team to move on both in the short and long term.

You just know that Leon and his cronies are going to sit there and say that Randle just lead us to our first playoff in 7 years, averaged 24-11-6 and was 2nd Team ALL NBA. If Sabonis can net Tyrese, then Randle can do the same if not better.

This is not taking into account that Sabonis:

-Is two years younger
-His contract is much less of a financial burden ($19 million to $28 million)
-He appears to be a better teammate and easier to coach with a much better attitude
-Other worldly more efficient (64.6% TS to 51.4%)
-More unselfish with less of a “I gotta get mine” mentality
-Puts up the same, if not better numbers than Randle yet his usage rate is 22% compared to Randles 27.5%

If people really believe we could have received Halliburton for Randle-IQ-2023 Unprotected 1st and 2 Seconds that’s fine. But I don’t see that as something Kings leadership would ever have accepted.

By the way, if the Knicks were to move Burks for a 2nd rounder, I'm in no way optimistic or this makes me think any higher of the FO in anyway. They suck, full stop.

If you are a tank advocate, removing Burks should make you happy, because although he's been mostly trash as a starter, in true Knicksian fashion, he shows out every now and then and gets them wins that f*ck up their draft position. Of course, it's too late already, but moving Burks might represent an extra loss or two, particularly with RJ about to miss some games.

The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Toronto Raptors discussed a three-team trade at length Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The framework would send Cam Reddish and Alec Burks to the Lakers, Goran Dragic and draft pick compensation to the Knicks, and Talen Horton-Tucker and Nerlens Noel to the Raptors, league sources told HoopsHype. Kendrick Nunn was also mentioned as a potential addition to the trade talks, sources said.

With New York trading away three rotation players in the proposal, one potential hangup in the trade discussion centers on the draft pick compensation for the Knicks. Toronto discussed sending a first-round pick, and the Lakers discussed sending a second-round pick to the Knicks, HoopsHype has learned. As conversations continued, the Knicks sought additional draft compensation.
**** the lakers if they think they can get rotation player for 2nd rounder.

Burks isn't that special. He's ok. He was fine in the 6th/7th man role for the Knicks. Anything more, it's bad. How valuable is that, really? Lots of teams have a Burks or better. Maybe several.

He was particularly nice when he was an actual competent player, on a cheap 1 year deal. It was representative to me, at the time, that the FO could scout out decent players, and not vastly overpay, and even have them on a bargain 1 year deal.

Of course, all those good feelings went out the window when they re-upped Rose for 2 guaranteed years, Fournier for 3 years, Burks and Noel for 2 years, and gave Taj any money at all. And the kicker - two years for totally washed Kemba, both an overpay AND bad pro player scouting. Though the same is true for Fournier.

Burks is meh. If the 2nd rounder is decent, which is hard to say, that's ok.
Basically, it sucks the Knicks didn't have better players to move who could bring back actual value.

The best play would've been to offer Rose $40 million for two years with a team option for the second year. Rose gets his guaranteed $20 million as a reward for his contribution last year, and the Knicks maintain cap flexibility for the summer of 2022. Make the same offer to Bullock. If feasible under CBA rules.

Burks is a folk hero for the nihilist, but he was redundent with IQ as this bench scorer and shot creator. He played very well in his bench role to start the year before he was inserted into the starting line-up, but the Knicks didn't need to resign him to begin with.

I thought keeping Burks was an overreaction to the narrative that the Knicks lacked shot creators against the Hawks, which was true to some extent, but which I thought was completely overrated in comparison with Thibs's refusal to go small and/or the lack of a stretch big.

Also, even thought the Kings probably move Barnes, Barnes provides some of that wing scoring which is how Randle basically plays, even though he's a PF. So getting a player who plays more like a traditional C might have been what they are looking for - meaning, no real interest in Randle.

Do you (in your personal opinion) think there's any trade package the Kings would've accepted, regardless of whether or not you think it'd have been worth it?

Best bet would be to be unsentimental to Rose and Taj and give them a big FU, see you later, and not give into Thibs demands for his ballwashing vets.

Instead the Knicks signed Rose and doubled down with Walker, tying up 24 million a year for two years in over the hill PG's.
And yeah, Rose played great last year, but what were the odds it was going to hold up? Well, guess what. It didn't.
20 million. Yeah, gtfo.

I’ll be freaking pissed if we trade Cam Reddish. And it’s possible with that rumor with separate deals.

Just **** get to work Leon. If you’re going to trade someone going to trade these stupid contracts, trade IQ to get rid of Burks and Noel. Not Reddish. Would he taking 3 steps backs. Especially if Reddish is playing with LeBron. He’d flourish and years down the road we’d be saying remember when we had Cam Reddish for a month and traded him away to free contracts that Leon Rose signed 4 months ago? Would be so typical Knicks…

Also please try and trade Randle

Just don’t think Leon will do the right thing because of Thibs… If we trade for vets with expiring contracts, he’d still play those guys over the youth. Unless Leon buys them out

Idk this **** gives me PTSD

If we get back a pick equal or better then what we gave up then sign me up. We get rid of Burks and Noel. Start clearing out this glut.

20 million. Yeah, gtfo.

He was our best player last year.

20 million for one year with a team option for the second year gives you a big expiring contract to throw in a trade (to match salaries), and preserves your cap space for the summer.

I think it'd have been a wiser move. It's in the past now so whatever.

The Knicks - and especially Scott Perry - are known to value quantity over quality.

It's not how you build a winning team.

Taj is the rare lovable vet on this team. 3rd string, low salary, never complains, good leader, and all around good dude. Just plays when the other Cs are hurt which happens a lot. And actually plays pretty good. He was battling Jokic as best he could and doing pretty good. I actually feel bad for him now. He deserves a better team

The rumor is interesting

Would Toronto be interested in Burks and Noel for Dragic and a second
Nunn has to be added because Cam cannot be packaged into a multiplayer deal
THT is probably why the Raptors send the Knicks the first, but I can see why the Knicks would want more. I don’t think they traded for Cam just to flip him to the Lakers 3 weeks later.

This makes no sense unless the Knicks netted 2 1sts between lakers and raptors

You gave up a 1st for reddish and you could dump burks for a 2nd if you just needed to clear his cap. He’s not an asset but he’s not untradeable. So why trade for cam to turn around and trade him 3 weeks later

Buzz, this front office is not even worth us discussing their ineptitude, and picking apart every deal they made or should have.

Lets just hope they lose every game from here on out and we end up with the #7 pick.

Go into next season giving big minutes to our Miami version of the big 3 in Noel-Kemba-Burks. Finish the season as a 20-62 team and get a #3 pick.

Of course we haven’t proven we’re good at drafting inside the lottery but it’s the best course of action.

Once we add these 2 Top 10 picks, fire Thibs and let Grimes-Obi-IQ-Cam-RJ-McBride-Mitch-2022 Lotto Pick-2023 Lotto Pick-2023 Dallas 1st develop.

It could be that they're not ready to deal with Thibs issue - and Thibs may have already developed a problem with Reddish.

I don’t understand the proposed deal. THT is a horrible contract. Why is Toronto doing this deal? Are they getting picks? What pick are we receiving in the deal? 2027 first rounder from Lakers? That is not equal value to a pick that we gave up unless it is unprotected (doubtful)
