If I recall last year we heard about trades well after the deadline -- what the Wojs of the world are reporting is from agents and FO people, not the league office -- so will be interesting to see

Unless the rule was changed since last year, if two (or more teams for that matter) are actively discussing a trade they can do that past the deadline. The paperwork can be finished after the deadline has passed.

Luca probably didn't love playing next to Kristaps and so if there wasn't some Euro connection the team was probably hoping for from them, why dedicate a chunk of your salary cap to a player like Kristaps who doesn't offer much

Step one fire him.

Step two egg his car.

Step 3 erect a giant straw Gupta.

Step 4 burn him in effigy.

Horrible deal for Dallas

2:37 p.m. ET: The Dallas Mavericks are trading Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans, sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon.

Did the Mavs consider Porzingis to be a negative asset? That's what they got in return.

I don’t think they give up that pick swap unless they know the follow-up trade locks in a core group

That was my first thought, too...what a horrific deal for the Mavs.

Honestly fine standing pat, given the trades made at this deadline.

Either way, your Celts won the trade by a significant margin. White should be an excellent fit with Tatum and Brown.

We needed to upgrade backup C and utilize expiring contracts. We put chemistry over talent and will pay the price.

There's nothing sexy about it but sometimes, no trade can be the best trade made. This team isn't winning the title this year. We will have the entire offseason to evaluate our roster and make moves at that time. We will also know who our GM will be.
