It's cool that Maxey seems to be earning respect around the league.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
Daryl said that the trade originally was with a third team on it.
I wonder what team was and why it falled out

Ridiculous lol. And what benefit is asking Josh Harris that, of all people?
I'm gonna start asking every date that question. Look Sarah, you had a 6 month relationship a year ago and that didn't work You had a 3 month relationship before me and that didn't work. How is this situation any different?
They keep saying three teams in 14 months. It’s also been three teams in 9 or 10 years. Houston entered a rebuilding mode. Very often star players move on when their team enters a rebuilding situation. I’m not concerned about that. The only concern was that Brooklyn didn’t work and he bailed. I can see being 32 and on the last leg of your career, trying to get to an ideal situation.

I was confused about that. I thought maybe he was talking about last December with Houston, Nj, or Philly, but I wasn’t focused in at the moment.

I originally thought so too, but then i remembered the Harden trade in december was actually a multiple team trade, so i think he was talking about this one.

Forgot about Tad. Glad Scott O'Neil is gone. What a clown.
Morey basically runs the org now. He hired his own team president lol. Usually it's the other way around.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
Some interesting tid bits in that press conference, especially since it seems to confirm that Houston was never going to trade with Daryl. It makes sense too that Harden got fed up (mostly with Kyrie lol) so quickly if it wasn’t his first choice. Could just be Harden blowing smoke but I find it believable.
But Harden seems excited, saying all the right things, vibes at practice seem great, etc. Assuming Harden is healthy the remainder of the season, this is the first time I’m more optimistic than pessimistic about our title hopes during the Embiid era.

Could've been to avoid including Seth and/or Drummond or to get other players to reduce the damage (better than Millsap).Murray_17 wrote:sixers hoops wrote:

OT: But I feel like I'm having a Mandela Effect situation where I've called Matisse's last name Thigh-Bull and I've been hearing a few people, off the top of my head: Morey and Kendrick Perkins, calling him Tie-Bull. In college, wasn't everyone calling him Thigh-Bull?

I remember when Harden was in Houston, the deal that reportedly would’ve happened involved Sacramento. Harden to Philly, Simmons to Sacramento, and assets to Houston.
This year, I imagine Atlanta would’ve been involved. Speculating here.

Mind you, it likely won't work. But props for even attempting it.

Sorry, but that isn't Harden's job. It's on Tobias to be able to score without his ball stopping tendency - if he hits spot up 3's and moves without the ball, he'll get his. Tobias scoring 20 isn't near the top of my list of things we need to happen nightly, but if he can do it within the framework of this new offense, fine. I'm not holding my breath.

I think Harden will get on Tobias to embrace the C&S 3, and lobby to get rid of him if he doesn't.
He'll also get Harris better looks than he's ever had before.
So there's a chance he could be a good fit now. We'll see.

I'm hoping having a real passer playing the point who can also score could lead to some easy/cheap baskets for Thybulle.

I feel like Tobias has a comfort zone, and catch and shoot isn’t it. It seems like he is just extremely resistant. Maybe his instincts tell him to dribble the air out of the ball without creating much in the process, so that is what he is comfortable doing. It feels like getting Ben to shoot from the outside. He just isn’t comfortable doing it.
Doc was really pushing for Tobias to stop dribbling and just react. When Tobias was doing that, he was finding success.

Harden will open up the game for Harris, he will work with him. What people don't realize is how much better Harden can make others especially with a solid coach backing him. Harden pointed out two major gripes : 1) He had a problem with a certain player buying in and being dedicated to the ultimate goal (Kyrie let personal issues affect his availability and commitment beyond getting vaccinated) 2) He had an issue with Nash's ability and experience to lead and develop a championship caliber team. He trusts Doc. Things that were out of his control were injuries affecting the team unit, but the two above were big enough reasons to leave.

Tobias’s last three seasons have been averaging 20, and mid-19s twice, so seems like business as usual. I don’t know if Harden is going to be closer to a 28 and 7 guy or a 21 and 10 guy, but Tobias may not see a big decrease in shots, and could get some really good looks from Harden. Also, if he became the focal point of the second unit, maybe more looks.
I read this as Harden just needs to get Tobias an extra bucket every game to hit the round number of 20. However, I think Harden was just complimenting the other starters, but he knows that the stars are him and Joel.

Re: Welcome James Harden!
To me, his Tobias comment was less about Tobias and more about him being a PG trying to maximize the impact of his team. I think Harden wants to be a 22/11 player now and is embracing his role as the orchestrator of the offense.
I can’t wait to see him run point with this team because we can realistically get 80 points a game from our top 4 players and that makes us a really hard team to guard.

Hopefully this slaps that our of him. It seems like a very small change to make, especially since he has a nice compact catch and shoot motion that looks comfortable/natural. He made some plays the last couple weeks that couldn't have been worse in that regard, passing up 3s to attack closeouts that didn't have open lanes to the cup and just resulted in risky passes and worse looks than the one he passed up. Maybe it's comfort, maybe it's confidence, but it seems too easy to change and he's seen so many people do it properly around him over the years.
That said, Tobias is pretty sweet in transition and Harden's extremely good at hitting guys on the break if they have a lane, even as far out as half court. Tobias should benefit from that some.
