Giannis was dunking on people as an 18 19 year old rookie... scottie just doesn't have the sMe level of explosiveness snd he's gonna hVe to adjust his game accordingly...

Fortunately he has already shown a willingness to shoot and also has great touch around the rim and has a developing back to the basket game... if he started getting a better whistle and also just had a go to move, maybe a mid range pull up, or just got more consistent with his post moves, he'll be fine. But we can't keep expecting him to turn into some freak athlete.

I also think he has the IQ advantage over Giannis nonetheless Scottie still has time to develop his explosiveness.

Giannis is averaging like 6 apg?? Everyone overlooks giannis skills because of his athleticism but giannis has great feel for the game as well... I remember they were even talking about him being a pg at one point? I could be wrong but he's not gary trent or precious achiuwa that's just coasting on his athleticism.

whatever iq scottie has over giannis is not making up for giannis Natural ability... all scottie can do is work on his other basketball skills like shooting...

I don't think it does any justice to think about comps anymore for a singular type of player. I just think he is Scottie Barnes. Tonight clutch steals, blocks Ayton at the rim, no look passes and can score at will in the post.

I mean the guy played only a handful of college games and is now pretty much being given the green light by Nurse to be playing free roamer on defense and can call his number on offense. What does this guy even look like in year two? No clue but he likely just does more good things.

Scottie isn't like Cade or Giddey or Mobley but he is sort of unpredictable like the Raptors. I can tell why teams hate playing us. How do you even plan for such competitors?

well, they allowed him to play through his mistakes...he's been amazing...my opinion after the 1st few games were he needs to become the main focal point of our offense.i think to post all-star break, it's already happening.

How did he end up with just 1 assist again? Ridiculous. Seems like our players consistently brick their shots after his passes.

You should be seeing improvements once he is used to the workload next season. This game was pretty weird though. Barnes has a tendency to look more lethargic when things aren't flowing. I wasn't surprised at all that he got blocked by Biyombo, I noticed this trend in a couple of games this season by him. Also not exactly sure what the gameplan was but the Siakam isos looked ugly. You saw Barnes didn't exactly know where to be and he was wasted.

Dont be so sour just because he’s grown during the year and now closer to 6’10 in shoes. Be excited.

I will be thrilled if Barnes was 6 foot 10, but that would be being excited based on a lie. That means Precious is 6 foot 11 in shoes (LOL). Precious is 6 foot 7.5 inches tall without shoes, and 6 foot 9 in shoes. We all have eyes, and look at Barnes standing next to Precious during all-star weekend.

I still think Barnes is 6 foot 8 in shoes. Every evidence I have seen of him over All-Star weekend, and in pics with 6 foot 6 inch Cade, 6 foot 4 inch Jalen Green, and 6 foot 6.25 inch OG Anunoby, etc., does not translate into Barnes being 6 foot 10. Despite the hopes of Raptor fans, who hope he is 6 foot 10, so they can compare him to Giannis. That being said, I will give Barnes the last word on his height-

Yes exactly which so im not far off when im saying hes between 6’9 and 6’10.
Hes definitely grown since being measured at combine. Thats what you’re not getting. And very possible achiuwa has to. We are only comparing him to Giannis in figure when he finally fills out. He’s 20 and already a monster and growing. Thats scary and why excitement is warranted

Ya clearly you. If the guy is saying he’s 6’9 back in november and he’s clearly grown since then.. in what way is that wrong. You dont even know what you’re saying

Yep, you're right. We've seen pics with him standing straight-up beside KD. Barnes is clearly 6'10 or so, at least in shoes. He's big. He hunches often, but when he stands straight up, he's very tall and a presence. He's 100% grown since the combine measurement.

This is true. Giannis game revolves entirely around his size and athleticism. Barnes game does not.

This highlights key moments in the game that exemplifies why I am excited about Barnes' potential. It wasn't just that he had 5 steals, 2 blocks & key defensive plays, but many were a direct result of his ability to read and anticipate plays. Only elite players, not rookies, can do that, and Barnes did it at pressured filled last moments of the game to extinguish Suns chances to score.

Trent may have scored 42 points but we would not have won the game without Barnes in those key moments.

i'm not sure scottie barnes is a true number 1 option on offense
what i see is he gets rebounds, and postup over smaller guys for in-the-paint buckets, and do everything

He doesn't have Cade, Jalen Green bags of tricks to score.

But he could be a shawn marion, draymond green, boris diaw type player which is really valuable in today's game

Draymond Green career high: 14 PPG

Raw rookie Barnes 5th option: 15 PPG

Scottie's already shown himself to be a more versatile scorer than Jalen Green, while being much more efficient.

Shawn Marion is on a totally different level as a scorer than either one of Green or Diaw.

More athletic Draymond Green with Offense is an MVP candidate, that's Scottie Barnes true potential.
