J.C. Jackson got a 16.5mil/year contract, could we expect something similar for Jaire? I read he was asking for more than 20mil/year.

All of the criticisms are, "Maybe you should play defense?". But it's not like the Chiefs were playing defense vs. the Bills in the 2nd half of their shootout either. They just happened to get the ball in OT.

My response to "just play defense" is "just guess the coin flip correctly and make the other team play defense." Or even better "just play better defense during the game and it doesn't go to OT."

All of it's either dumb or moot - just like both teams not getting a chance on offense in OT. I can understand not everyone liking the college rules, but I fundamentally do not understand anyone being pro-current rules.

Probably because defensive players get paid also and it isn't nearly as common for both teams not to touch the ball as some want to believe

College rules suck. Current rules are fine.

I can't tell if the new Viking brass are planning on treading water until we have to blow it up, or if they believe the coaching changes will put them over the top. Their subreddit is distraught over their lack of activity.

Ah, yes. "Man up." Forgot to consider that one. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Much better to just whine about a coin toss and act like defensive players are just temp workers

Why shouldn’t BOTH defenses have man up and make a play?

With how accurate FG kicking has gotten over the past decade, I think getting rid of sudden death OT was 100% the right move. But anything beyond that, then yeah, this is just teams being reactionary and bitching about something that no one's ever gonna be happy with. Hold them to a FG and you still get a chance to tie or win the game. If you can't stop the other team from marching down the entire field and scoring a TD, then yes, get a better defense. It's obvious why college does it, but you're not improving the NFL product by turning every other OT game into some 4-and-a-half hour 62-55 shootout and inflating the stats/record books even more than they already are.

Would be fine with college rules, but with the quality of NFL kickers, teams should start farther back than the 25. Starting from the 35, if you don't gain a yard it's a 52-yarder. That seems like a good spot.

Because if your teams defense can't even force a FG then guess what? You don't deserve to get to force the other defense on the field. Sorry I forgot. Oh no something something coin flip.

You want 100% fairness it isnt happening and won't ever happen. And once again college rules suck

I’m intrigued by the Titans OT proposal about the first team on offense scoring but having to go for two to win without the other team possessing the ball. Puts a lot of other scenarios in play.

Why even play games? Games are too long anyhow. If whoever wins the opening coin flip can score a TD, game over. Can extend players' careers too by taking less hits. IMO.

Why not have a kick off? Start at the 10 and keep moving back 10 yards after each make. First kicker to miss loses.

Why not let the team with the ball at the end of regulation just start from where they finished?

52.7%

That's the win probability of teams that win the OT coin toss under the current rules. What the critics are focusing on is the 63% playoff win probability under the current rules where the team scored a TD on the opening drive. But it's been on such a small sample size (11-games) that I don't know how you draw any meaningful conclusions from it quite yet.
