I think for Patty being in a good spot trumps cash. And I think he could probably get the same 3 year deal after next season. I think he takes the option and i think he wants to help ben.

I doubt he takes the option. He definitely should opt out & at least do another 1+1 with a Player Option for a slight raise & some extra security. I believe he can get about $7.1mil from us next year if he opts out.

Do we hold his rights to do that or would it cost the MLE?

if we hold his rights then i can see it. otherwise he is better off taking the 6.1 million option and letting us use the MLE to keep drummond

We have non-bird rights, which means we can give him a 20% raise & a multi-year deal. Given he'll be 34, he should be looking for his last, sizable contract. If he's ok with a 3-4 year deal starting at $7.1mil, we could lock him up.

lol wtf has Simmons been doing during his time off. Not very professional if you ask me to not be ready by now... I mean he wasn't injured or anything like that. Perhaps he expected to skip the entire season as if this trade wouldn't have happened.

I don’t think Simmons is gonna play this season. It’s just too late to start practicing, scrimmaging, learn plays and get into basketball shape. Remember that he hasn’t been doing any basketball workouts or anything for this long.

Similar to KD’s first season, it’s best to just redshirt Simmons for this season and then have him back by start of next season hopefully.

Crazy though that he made almost $40 million for this season by basically sitting at home for 90% of the time. Him and John Wall gotta be the luckiest people on the planet.

Ben also got an epidural.

The people who claimed that Simmons was faking it to get money (Sixers fans mainly) are pretty low.

I Still believe Ben plays this year. Seems the back injury is not causing him serious pain. Just wanna make sure it doesn't flare up again

If he really has had an epidural then there was some serious amount of pain involved, also explains why we have not seen him much in workouts , careful careful buildup.

Ben had to get an EPIDURAL and people still want to act like the guy is faking it.

You don't get an epidural for the f*ck of it. Fans are being deranged right now.

He wouldn't get an epidural if he wasnt planning on playing this year but I don't really see how he's ready in time for the playoffs. Last update on him is that he's unable to do anything. I don't see how you go from that to NBA playoff ready form in 3 weeks or so. I think he's done and the Nets are just stringing along the fans like they usually do.

Yep. The Nets did this crap with Joe Harris.

Ben isn't going to be ready. Why lie to us? Just be honest.

Oof. Y'all seem kinda harsh with such claims, mateys.

So-- the human body may ultimately be a synthetic construct, able to be repaired at a whim just like mechanical machinery given requisite knowledge, but until then, it seems to me that medical science is still basically our best attempt to fish around in the dark, hoping to improve upon nature.

Meaning, we're still wrong all the time, screw up all the time, and fall short with a regularity when it comes to medical science.

With that in mind, what proof do we really have that the Nets LIED to us about Joe and Ben? Because selling a few more Wolf Tickets doesn't seem like it helps Tsai, the players, or the franchise in general..

Ben Simmons has a herniated disc in his back but wants to play this season.

Per Shams Charania in a report for The Athletic, Nets point guard Ben Simmons is nursing a herniated disc in his back that has kept him out of practice since Brooklyn acquired him in February.

Ben Simmons is dealing with a herniated disc in his back and although his return to action this season is uncertain, he wants to be back on the floor as soon as he can, sources tell The Athletic.

Seems like they are just dragging out the inevitable by being coy about everything is what I am getting at. The way Nash kept answering questions about Ben made ppl think Ben was faking it which frankly is disgusting, but the Nets didn't do him any favors either by not being upfront about it.

If the epidural allows him to play without pain, fine. If not, no. he need to sit. Its not worth it.

Women giving Birth try to avoid an epidural until the pain is unbearable. the idea someone would get it for "optics" is utterly preposterous

Marks/Nets PR has been all-time bad levels of garbage... making definitive statements that blow up in their face (big 3 will be signed by training camp) to clear lies (harden doesnt want a trade) to injuries (Joe as mentioned)

its a crapshow. They need new PR and to get rid of this Bill Bellicheck approach.

its 2022. too much social media and too many insiders to take that route

It's different then an epidural for labor. "Epidural" just means that they inject medication directly into a specific location in the spine. In the case of a herniated disk, it's a steroid (cortisone) injection to relieve swelling in order to cause the disk not to bulge and pinch the nerve. For women in labor, it's a blocking epidural for anesthesia that numbs the lower half of the body.

If Ben isn't ready to play then WTF did we get him for? We are wasting Durant's prime by bringing in divas like Irving, Harden, and now Simmons.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
