I think you can get John Collins with Harris. Collins has some baggage. He has health issue and ego issue. Im not sure now if i want him.

So this is not going to be a popular take... but if Tobias keeps playing like this:
- only posts up after a switch when he has a size advantage
- only dribbles when he is aggressively going to the rim
- other than that catches and shoots or passes quickly.
He's been doing this the last few games, and it's worked pretty well.

If Harris is a reliable scoring option in the fourth quarter he adds a tremendous amount to this team. Incredibly difficult to defend Harden/Embiid/Maxey AND Harris.

I think people can simultaneously acknowledge that:
1. In the future, it would probably benefit the team to break his salary up into multiple role players, and
2. Now, he's been doing a better job filling the role he's being asked to fill.
I'm mostly concerned with #2 right now, #1 can wait until the offseason.

He was always pretty horrible when it mattered so I'm skeptical about that + yes, theoretically we have four scoring options, but you will see how it will look like in the playoffs against good teams...I think it partially has to do with rotations, Doc has to figure out a way to maximize their talents so that the team whole is not less than the sum of its parts.

2020-2021
Mikal Bridges 1.4 3PTM on 3.8 3PTA
Tobias Harris 1.4 3PTM on 3.8 3PTA
Last 15 games
Mikal Bridges 1.5 3PTM at 40 3PT%
Tobias 1.9 3PTM at 40 3PT%
Ever since Harden’s addition. He’s much better on defense and seems like he also shoots better on 3s.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
Simmons' absence impacted Harris more than anyone else on the team and Harden is bringing all of that and even more. I think that's probably why he's looked better. That said, ship the Librarian out in the offseason.

He played better last season. He almost averaged 20-6-4 on 50-40-90 shooting %s
Yes, i dont mind trading Tobias.

Tobi held Siakam to just 11 pts in 31 possessions in G1.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
I think Tobias would look even better next to another Otto Porter/Robert Covington type forward. I think he has a lot of responsibilities in regards to being “the size” next yo players like Green/Thybulle.
I’m very surprised at how well he has adjusted to his new role and think we might be able to survive the next 2 years of his contract. If there’s a clear upgrade I’m all for trading him, but I no longer view him as someone we must trade at any cost.

Totally agree. With the way he’s playing, it really starts to narrow down the possible trades that actually make the team better. We’ll see how the rest of the playoffs shake out but he’s been awesome.
I think the more likely trade is Thybulle at this point. Ship him out for a more balanced vet who isn’t a playoff liability. It gonna be hard to pay him past next year anyway. I’d even trade Matisse for someone like Cody Martin at this point.

Let's wait and see what he does in competitive playoff games before drawing any conclusions. That was a blowout all the way through, and Tobias historically has his big efforts in that type of game.

For sure, he’s had a nice run and game 1 was a good continuation but he’ll need to keep it going against better defenses in round 2. Miami looked locked in yesterday so it’ll be a good test for the whole team as we think about moves in the summer. But it was a blow out because Tobias/Maxey played so well rather than Tobi playing well because it’s a blowout, which we’ve seen happen more often lol.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
I think people are too willing to trade Tobias for a John Collins type, or even depth with let's say a Crowder or RoCo type and backup player.
I could be open to the depth thing, if that depth includes a 3 & D (player) and quality backup Center. However, the best thing about Tobias and Maxey IMO is exactly what we saw in Game 1 Saturday. A team like Toronto and Miami are great at recovering and chasing 3pt shooters off the line or into contested looks. I remember a game in 2021 vs Toronto where I just couldn't understand why the likes of Danny Green or Seth wouldn't just jump into the players to get 3 free throws, as they were running at them full force and out of control....Tobias too, but he was the 2nd option on that team and in a different role (some of the time). But with James and Embiid gathering sooo much attention, what makes Tobi and Maxey so dangerous off the ball is that Doc has them making quick decisions, and they are able to shoot well or create vs shifted defenses or mismatches off of rotations. If James gets back to some level of efficiency scoring, and Joel is himself...it will be hard to even properly account for those 2, plus a Danny Green or Niang shooting the 3 with a quick trigger. Their ability to get easier 2s vs closeouts or mismatches should keep the offense efficient. Crowder and a backup can't do that.
Tobias will never be necessarily a max level player, but to get the best out of what you got...I say keep him. His defensive improvements since last year and even more since his role change after this trade, should make it pretty easy to do so. Plus, when you want to rest Joel and Harden ongoing....which should be the goal every year ongoing....Tobias and Maxey can shift their roles to be more primary scorers.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
I think the priorities will be a starting SF and a backup C in the offseason. The backup big should be relatively easy to get imo but the problem is that a starting caliber SF is the most coveted player in the league. Trading for one will be really hard. Our best bet there is probably hoping that someone like Covington can be had for the MLE.

Hoping Bassey/Reed can fill in at backup C next year. We’ll also need a starting SF and 3rd guard IMO.
Maxey/3rd G
Harden/3rd G
SF/Green or Thybulle
Harris/Niang
Embiid/Bassey & Reed
That ought to be our 9-10 man rotation.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
If Cuppy plays consistently in the playoffs as he has the last month or two, we can keep him. Coming up small in the playoffs again however means time to go.
