That's the third time McCormack has smashed a UNC player in the face.

I’m sure there’s recent examples but I haven’t thought deeply about it. This game has the two Kansas guys: one potential lottery pick and one potential late first round pick. How common is it for the championship to have so few projected draft picks?

This is kinda what he does. When he’s hot he’s unstoppable but when he’s cold he’s just a chucking moron. Strong Malachi Richardson vibes with that one.

Yea the people out there who bash the nba and act like college is better basketball are absolutely nuts.

However, that was a pretty darn good game for you to dip your toes in. So to still come away unimpressed says a lot. The Duke/UNC game saturday was about as good as it can get for college though.

Like no offense but it doesn't come close to NBA but the crowd is wild at least, great atmosphere.

Issue is how coaching and play in general are played ,especially on defense i see a lot of gambling and one and done efforts and on offense they really stick to a lot of iso plays and basic stuff.

The PNR seems non existent at some point, really weird

College basketball is **** but it’s a great spectacle when you get a competitive back and forth game like this one.

And the crowd/environments for big games on actual home college campuses are really good, and really what makes it still a great sport.

But yea the talent drop off is massive. And as you said the style of play is worse. It still has a lot of dump into the big guy and slam into each other. And the PnR stuff is more difficult because the shooting is so much worse than NBA so they can defend it better, off ball defenders can leave their guys, etc. So the ball handler usually can't drill shots off the dribble like NBA, and if the ball gets swung around the open catch/shot guy isn't a good shooter.

People who prefer college to NBA confuse the sloppiness of diving for loose balls with "hustle" and weak offense with "effort on defense".

Best part of college hoops is the tournament. 63 game 7's. The NBA's 82 game season followed by 4 rounds of 7 game series with the Finals in mid June is dumb.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Congratulations to the same group for the 100something year in a row for identifying that professional players are better than amateurs.

As noted by MD, the tournament is more fun. It's also the only sport where I think the inferior talent can be good (I realize this is not a widely held take and weird). The NBA is now Big 12 football to me. Occasionally not scoring on a possession can add to the excitement rather than every shot going in from the logo. Also, rivalries kind of matter in college.

Other than the tournament part, I'm obviously in a very small minority on the rest.

Don't get me wrong - I still like the NBA...but I guess there's a reason that the NCAA still draws a lot of eyes, even if they are acutely aware that Brad Davison is not as talented as Dame as they watch.

In all seriousness, I had no expectations to even be in that game to start the tourney so it's all been gravy for me since the Marquette game.

It's gonna be hard to knock me off the high that came from ending Coach K's career. This was an amazing season for my Heels.

Yeah, what is historically my favorite sport is now crumbling (IMO) under the combo of NIL and the unrestricted transfer portal. I don't know how to feel, other than disappointed. I support these players being able to make money off of their name in what is a billion-dollar business, but there is nothing amateur about this anymore and it's an absolute free for all, benefitting whichever schools have rich, megalomaniac boosters.

To be fair, this was somewhat the case before…it’s just above the table now.

But it does **** with a lot of the middle tier teams that are even less inclined to do this sort of stuff and your entire roster can just leave at the drop of a hat in the off-season or now in-season.

A Creighton coach offered a guard 100k. I think all the teams, including the mid-levels, are doing this at some level. But yea, in a lot of cases this is going to come down to who has the richest donors with a desire to win.
