Re: Play-in Game 1: @ Minnesota 6:30pm PST on TNT
man, I had to bail on this game thread wtf
- —D-bagging on PG--then he lights up the 3rd quarter and finishes with 34 and makes them eat a big shi*tburger
—Reggie hangs in there under all-out Pat Bev attack and still finishes with 17-7-5
—Once again we're out there with a pick-up team and it's the coach's fault even though he tried every combination under the sun
—Actually it's Doc Rivers' fault and we never should have traded for Paul George either

I'm willing to stake my anonymous internet reputation that Mook is getting moved, maybe Luke too.

Let's give them both their due. Pat is kamikaze. Do or die. In fact he has missed almost half his games the last 3 years--he did and he died in equal proportion.
Reggie started 75 games for us this year and we would not have made the Play-In without him.
There are Clippers and there are not-Clippers. They are both Clippers Forever to me.

This is true. But also playing him around 40 minutes is like leaving your door unlocked and notice to your hood about it. There ain't so much thieves in regular season so you can get there with a little push. This is what we did. No need to overvalue him.
I'd be totally fine with him playing from bench for like 20-25 minutes a game. He was gold in comeback against Dallas Series with that way. That's the type of role he can be useful in a championship team. Other than that is just an esay pay day for thieves.

True. Reggie should be at best the backup point guard on a championship team. Instead he played more minutes and scored more points than any other Clipper this year.
Reggie went 17-7-5 tonight. No slouch. T-Mann played 15 minutes and went minus-16 and scored 2 fu*king points. SLOUCH.
If we're going to scapegoat let's get our scapegoats straight.

Easy there. Let them actually play and lose.
I'll believe it when I see it. Literally everything I had been warning about for weeks with this stupid play-in came to fruition and cost us the game tonight. No reason to expect the long scoring droughts, blown leads, pitiful rebounding, and flat-out stupid play from Reggie/Mook to suddenly stop on Friday when they've been a constant all season.
I hear you. I've been calling Reggie "Teflon Reggie" because no criticism sticks to him in these parts.
In a 7 game series he can be useful but in a one game series he can seriously hurt us.
Anyway we got one more game left. Let's see!

I miss Leonard. His calming presence and absolute will to take over a game.
The bad habits some of us were complaining about in the last month or so sure enough came back to haunt them.
The worst for me is all the open looks last night and we didn’t have the number one 3 point shooter available. Still can’t believe they chanced him in the OKC game.
Is Powell still on a minutes restriction?
How many souls do we have to sell to get rid of Morris this summer?
Forgot to add it sucks they didn’t take care of business to get some rest. They play Friday night and then off to Phoenix Sunday night. If they beat NO/SA that is.

Re: Play-in Game 1: @ Minnesota 6:30pm PST on TNT
Reggie was bad in the fourth, but I’m not going to totally throw him under the bus. Reggie would be so much better as a high energy 22-25 mpg guy; the difference between 22 mpg and 31 mpg (which is what Reggie played this year while playing 75 games and leading the team in minutes) doesn’t sound like much but it’s big. And Reggie’s hustle and willingness to step up and fill in areas where we have gaps—I mean, it’s worth a lot.
Anyway, Reggie's played/is playing a lot because we missed the two things he brings--scoring and playmaking. Did his 4th quarter collapse doom us? it sure as hell didn’t help—but I’ll go with the fact that nobody besides PG stepped up to try and generate offense killed us. Powell had a terrific game—except for the 4th quarter. 1 FGA in 9 minutes. Mook had 0 FGA. Mann and Zu played over 15 minutes between themselves in the 4th--1 FGA. Reggie' a streaky shooter that isn't efficient, but when you need scoring, he'll step up and try to do it, and that's worth a ton. Same with playmaking--he's not an ideal PG. But he's about all we had for most of the year. PG coming back helped with the playmaking; Powell coming back helped with scoring. We're still a little light in those areas, though (especially playmaking). Guessing Lue thought we needed Reggie out there for playmaking so PG could concentrate on scoring. PG did his part.
Anyway, we didn’t rebound in the final quarter either. Or for the whole game. Mook had 0 boards for entire game. So, yeah. That’s a problem. (The 12 points on 11 shots isn’t much of a help either.) On paper, we had most players having good games. but when push came to shove in the fourth, Reggie took some bad shots, most everyone else except PG played like they were allergic to the ball. We didn’t lock down and force turnovers in the fourth. Minny did. Other than PG (and Reggie), we didn’t look like we wanted it much. Bad time for a look like that. Props for Minnesota for coming through when it counted.

Re: Play-in Game 1: @ Minnesota 6:30pm PST on TNT
KAT was so bad that I think we probably would have won if he hadn't fouled out last night.
It honestly didn't feel like the playoff chokes of the past, but once KAT got out, it was all Edwards and Russell for them, and those two made shots.
Two big mistakes were to have Reggie bring the ball up when Beverly was all over him at the end, instead of PG or Mann (bigger guy), and he lost. And not being able to foul for a good 6 seconds after PG made it a 4 point game.
Also Batum was really bad offensively. Getting blocked by Beverly on a wide open dunk was just embarrassing.
I think we need to play more PG, Powell, Covington, Morris, Mann line-up. Switch everything defensively.

DLo and Ant took over at the end and closed the game. That transition deep 3 by DLo, not much you can do. But the next possession it was humiliating how we gave up a wide open dunk by Ant in the half court.
I am confident we can beat this team in a 7-game series. But it's one game so it's tough. DLo and Ant are never shy about shooting the ball, they made all the big shots at the end. Reggie is our most clutch player this season, but he was terrible during that final stretch.

We had a 8 point lead before we went small and tried to outshoot them when we could of kept the same pace and slowed the game down to grind it out

I don’t think anyone is blind to his faults, but if the board is more forgiving it’s because he is given too many minutes and we are not surprised when he breaks down at one point.
No one here wants him to play more than 25-30 minutes.
Return to Los Angeles Clippers
