Just for the record, I think Doc's a great talker (maybe less so recently, to the media, but he's been dealing with a lot over there), a solid regular season coach that could get almost any decent team above .500, maybe even in the playoffs. I also he believe that he's a below average, and rapidly declining, playoff coach, that should've been fired right after the Houston series. When it did finally happen, it was as important for us as drafting Blake, trading for CP3, the Sterling tapes, or even winning a championship.

Now I promise I'll never talk about him ever again until the Sixers get bounced. If that happens in the conference finals or later, I'll make sure to give the man some props, unless it's after another blown 3-1 lead. :)

Oh, and no coach should have to deal with that BS BS, not even Doc.

P.S. Using some random tweets for bait is weaker than Doc's temper whenever questioned about his coaching decisions.

Armchair geniuses are about the same all over.

BTW they said all the same things about Andy Reid when they chased HIM out of Philly. So it goes...

That's exactly making my point. Doc is a vulture. He'll go to teams that are ready to go deep into the playoffs. Whereas Pop develops and cultivates players.
Pop continues to coach the Spurs with or without no name players. Blake was making all star teams before doc got here.
Pop will demand discipline on the court and even chew out Duncan at times. Doc will sweet talk all day long but then throw his players under the bus.
Kawhi was under pop from day one. DJ and Blake were ready to take the next step when Doc stepped in.
Pop is a great coach. Doc is a great opportunist.

It's not a schtick. No one likes Howard Eskin. But Glenn Rivers is not Doc in a city that had Erving and Halladay, sorry.

He's consistently had unbelievably talented teams, so regular season wins are not a measure of his coaching prowess.

You guys are welcome to have him back. Free of charge.

No, Doc made lazyass DJ an all-star. You could look it up. And in a pathetic attempt to discredit Doc, they went back to 1999 to try to find a player that got better after leaving. [Ben Wallace--who Doc had for ONE whole year. And Doc made him a starter.]

Nothing more Eskin or WIP than going to ANOTHER TEAM'S BOARD to whine about Doc Rivers. [Although I admit you sure came to the right place. :rofl2:]

The LA media, specifically those covering the Clippers were actually generally pretty soft on Doc. Doc is probably thinking to himself, why did I come here with all these ruthless people. Doc has had his ego moments, but I don't know about moments like the "would you ask Pop that", and that kind of stuff when he was the Clippers coach. He generally didn't get questions that triggered him to that extent.

yeah, the media adored doc rivers before his departure and it was a total joke with how softly they treated him.

it wasn't until the denver collapse that media members actually began going "well wait a second, this guy actually isn't all he's cracked up to be, and maybe we should start asking him legitimate questions about what's going on instead of lobbing softballs to him all the time."

and obviously his responses to legitimate questions about his decisions/strategies have caused him to respond, often, in an unkind manner - mostly he's just showing everyone who he really has been this whole time.

Forget it Jake. It's Philadelphia.

Andy Reid: Fans and Media in Philly Have Already Fired Him, but Will the Eagles?

Fans in Philadelphia are a fickle bunch. Before leaving halfway through the third quarter of the Eagles' Sunday loss to the New England Patriots, fans started chanting "Fire Andy" in an effort to officially commence the closing stages of Andy Reid's tenure as head coach of their beloved Birds.

The chants weren't loud enough to take over the stadium, nor were they loud enough to distract Reid, who still has two years and $10 million left on his contract. But the "Fire Andy" pleas were certainly loud enough for the media to hear in the press box, and for TV and radio shows to turn those chants into the pull-out postgame storyline.

Fire Andy. It's not a new mindset in Philadelphia, by any means. People have wanted Reid fired since 2005, the year after Philadelphia lost the Super Bowl. Heck, some people in Philadelphia wanted Reid fired right after he lost the Super Bowl, and many of those fans haven't stopped hoping for it to happen since then.

Reid was fired a year later in 2012. He went on to win Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs.

A look around at the league’s head coaches shows that Reid is presently the head coach with the fifth-longest tenure with his current team in the National Football League. Having begun in 2013, it means that only four other head coaches have been with their respective franchises longer—and even some of them are from Reid’s own coaching tree.

The 2022 regular season will be Reid’s 10th with the team. Coming into his time with the Chiefs, Reid already had a 14-year run on the sidelines for the Philadelphia Eagles which included a strong record of 130-93-1—good for a 58.3 win percentage. With the Chiefs, however, Reid already has 103 wins against only 42 losses in nine full seasons, which comes out to a 71.0 win percentage. That’s an incredible leap from an already successful plane.

Doc is like a sleazy used car salesman. And he is very good at it. His "coaching" is basically convincing his players they have what it takes to win. He'd be a lot more successful if motivation alone was all it was required to win basketball games.

Worst coach in sports history and it's not even close. It's almost unfathomable how terrible he is at closing out series, especially with all the HOFers he's had the opportunity to "coach."

Beard dragging ass, Embiid playing with one arm, Tobias the most overpaid stiff in the NBA, and the 6th man is Jazz reject Georges Niang playing for the minimum.

Only one intelligent conclusion is possible--Blame the coach. :rofl2:

Very useful. Quin Snyder and Brad Stevens could take a page from Doc's book convincing his players they're better than they are. Maybe Doc's teams OVERACHIEVED in the regular season and came back to earth in the playoffs. I'm a Sixers fan but

You can pass the blame from Doc to the players, but the fact of the matter is that since leaving Boston, the 2018-2019 overachieving Clippers are the only team that Doc has coached that was knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual Conference Champ.

Out of all of those playoff teams, the 76ers 4-1 series win over the Wizards last year was the only one of Doc's teams that was able to win a playoff series after obtaining a 2 game advantage within in the 1st 4 games of a series. If Toronto comes back in this series, Doc will not be back with the 76ers.

Every coach Doc has been negatively compared to has been fired or will be soon. Even St. Popovich without Duncan is shi*t too. My comment stands unrefuted.

What's more likely: that Doc has coached a perfect game and been let down by his players 31 times throughout his career in the exact same situation? Or that Doc is a historically awful coach whose stubbornness and inability to make obvious adjustments always enables his opponents to hang around in a playoff series?

Lob City killed itself with selfishness and immaturity. Blake took the left side of the floor and CP3 took the right. Aside from the fast breaks they were never a team.

And they all know they blew it. :(

“We’ve all just been like ‘man we really f—– that up,'” Redick said, as quoted by CBS Sports. “We had a chance to win and there were these small little cracks and fractures and we didn’t repair and address them the way we should’ve. I look back and think, ‘how did that team not win one championship?’ We did not do a great job of not being annoyed by each other.”

Redick is pointing towards a certain disconnect between the stars. Apparently, Blake, CP, and the rest of the roster let their differences get in the way of a Championship. We saw their tension reach its boiling point during their breakup a few years ago.

Now, with each star having gone their separate ways, they will look to capture that elusive title on their new teams. Still, the rest of us can't help but wonder what could've been if these guys had just kept their cool.
