There are kinda 2 camps of people.
Some are very interested/focused on the economics/players getting paid, etc...I personally agree players can/should get some compensation. I understand what some were getting at for years.
There are others that are in the camp of, "entertain me to what I like to watch." I'm more in this camp. There are still people that want the kids to truly be amateurs and hate that they get paid, but most in here, yes, think that things should be more fair and it shouldn't be a University president soaking in the $ and it should go to Zion Williamson or whatever, but I personally don't give that much of a ****. I'll move on to something else I'd rather watch if they tear down the sport based on this.
While I realize it's a bit hypocritical, yeah, I think the players should be compensated, but in the end, I've got kids, a job, bills...entertain me. I like to cheer for the Wisconsin Badgers and the rivalries of college sports. If they turn it into a fully amateur sports league...I might take my time elsewhere?
The real question/fine line is that the "NBA is better, I am hyperfocused on players getting compensation" crowd may just create another NBA, potentially driving the other camp away from college sports.
Maybe that's fine. Maybe that's what we wanted? It's capitalism and people running things are probably smart enough to create something that people will want to watch from college sports. Or maybe it won't, and Nijel Pack and Isaiah Wong can take their services to the professional league of the Sioux Falls SkyForce or whatever the **** their name is and get paid as a professional as some originally wanted all along.
