Keep it up and he’d have higher trade value than the ff. by offseason..
- julius randle
- russell westbrook
- ben simmons
And possibly Rudy Gobert
^ bad thing is all 4 of these guys are not playable in the playoffs

Throw some names out there
Random trade idea just messing around with the trade machine:
Jazz get Tobias Harris + DET pick(s)
Pistons gets Rudy Gobert
Sixers get Jerami Grant & Kelly Olynyk
Reasons for each team:
Utah: Time to blow it up and rebuild around Mitchell. You get a guy in Tobias who knows how to play around a ball dominant player and has now proven he can be a difference maker in a playoff series. Get some good picks from Detroit and let Tobias expire after two years and try to land a decent FA.
Detroit: Accelerates the rebuild into winning time with Cade, Bey, this year’s FRP and Gobert forming a playoff level core. Gets Cade a rim rolling lob threat and could put them in a fringe playoff position. If I’m them, I want to get Cade as many playoff reps early in his career as possible.
Philly: Grant fills the Tobias role but trade worse shooting for better defense. Olynyk gives us a stretch 5 as a back up C that can play with a number of lineup configurations. Also gives us improved cap flexibility.
Not gonna happen but fun to imagine the possibilities.

Gobert about to be paid 46M by 2026.

I certainly wouldn't trade Tobias for any of them.
Kind of a backhanded compliment.

You're right, not going to happen, but I like that deal.

Semi OT: Zach Lowe mentioned on his podcast that a Ben Simmons for Gobert deal is an interesting thought. Hmm..

Will Donovan Mitchell wear his rookie definition hoodie to troll Ben if this happens?

Unless you put Ben at the 5, this still would be horrible for the Jazz.
If you put Ben at the 5, you still need a wing defender for the Jazz.
Pluggin Ben also means Mitchell having the ball less time in his hands

I agree..
Yikes.
Both Gobert and Ben has to slide down the NBA hierarchy or it’s euro league future for them

I think the jazz win that trade easily based only on on-court capabilities. If Ben is mentally not functioning at the level he once was, then I think he’s staying in Brooklyn a while.

Once Jazz do the trade, they’ll realize that Ben is actually not switchable. He had a hard time defending 4s and specially 5. He offers very limited to no rim protection.
Offensively, yes he is skilled but in order to max his skillset, you will have to sacrifice more on offense. Such as poor spacing and less PnR play. Playoffs is all about PnR, ISO and spacing.

That's just not true. He was the best wing defender in the association last season, and elite at marking guards as well - not to mention a rebounding horse.
His weakness is if asking him to guard centers full time, I don't think he's up for the physical challenge of banging down low.
Ben was only human alive that was able to somewhat nullify the demon bloodthirsty Kawhi of 2019. He absolutely eviscerated Butler and Giannis (good defenders), and treated Tobias Harris like air. Tobias had to guard Gasol that series because he couldn't stick with anyone else that had any semblance of mobility.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
(assuming he wants to play) A Ben for Gobert swap would be the only reason I could find incentive for Mitchell to stay in Utah.
But I think he's overrated anyways. You can't build around a ball dominant 2 guard that can't playmake and refuses to try on defense.
Mitchell feels like a Miami Heat.

Im talking 4s.
You’re talking wings.
Im talking Siakam, Giannis and the likes.
No doubt Ben is great in defending guards, and also possibly SG-SF (wings).

Mitchell is overrated. He’s good as a 2nd option. But you need a high points per possession ISO or PnR scorer like Harden or CP3 for him to play with.

What 4 in the western conference is Ben going to need to guard that will prevent the Jazz from moving forward? Draymond? I mean, even last round, Dorian Finney Smith? No, it was Dinwiddie, Brunson and Doncic that were crushing them. I mean, honestly, the Nets, Bucks and the Raptors are like the only teams in the playoffs with 4s (or 4 sized) that need accounting for.
On top of that, Gobert is a non-factor on offense if he's not getting offensive rebounds or finishing alley-oops. At least Ben is skilled enough to generate assists for shooters (something Donovan would probably welcome). He can create offense for others.

TBQH, Ben is probably a top 3 Giannis defender in the league and he clamps Lebron/Tatum types who are hybrid 4's. Who else? Like Collins/Harris/Grant types?
His defensive versatility is actually absurd considering he's the only human alive that can pin Luka Doncic to half-court, match him stride for stride and still have the length to contest his step backs. Like Luka murdered Kawhi/PG on offense in a series.

Re: Tobias Harris Trade Thread
I think Ben could learn how to be a decent defender at the 5, but I also think he could learn how to shoot a passable jump shot so I’m not sure what it matters. He very clearly only wants to do what he wants to do. It’s both what causes him to be so good at the things he wants to do and what causes him to not develop at what he doesn’t want to do.
He’s fine as a switching guy down to a 5 for a single possession though. As much as any guy who is a wing defender. Like I’d rather have him on a 5 than Marcus Smart or Thybulle.
The normal version of Ben obviously not the one that refuses to play.
