Great quote I just heard at the end of The Reidout tonight
Every time a bigot gets triggered, an angel gets its wings.

A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity
When you are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression
Those who are convinced of absurdities, can be convinced to commit atrocities

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXX
Is this a great country or what?
Bonscott probably says it's Biden's fault.
In a better world or country, all candidates for office should be asked the question:
Is socialism or fascism a bigger threat to the future of our country?
(with explanations for their answer)
and
Same question but on the global scale.

Just say no to fascism wherever it rears its ugly head.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXX
Intriguing article. Don't know if I could make it through the book without having a conniption.
https://newrepublic.com/article/166358/disastrous-legacy-new-democrats?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=EB_TNR&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1652465538
This article focuses on the futility/outright damage of the Dems housing policy.
I could write a chapter about how all gun control policies pushed by Democrats over the last 30-40 years are completely ineffectual. And a page or two about how raising the minimum wage to something below the market clearing wage is a political stunt and nothing more. Having a huge contingent of your voting base being flat out racists means your political strategy is to promise stuff that doesn't actually do anything. It's just weird that they've never been held accountable for it. It's hard to punish Dems by allowing Republicans to be elected, because then the Dems come back screaming "VOTE HARDER!" instead of actually changing anything.

I'm thinking of submitting one in my name asking "Are economists scientists?" Although maybe I should use the more clickbaity header "Are economists stupid?"

Sanders is prone to exaggeration, but I don't think he is inaccurate here. Manchin never seems to act in good faith on the Dems priorities. More recently on the Bill to protect abortion rights, if he couldn't vote for it - work out a compromise bill with Murkowski and even Collins. Hard to see they wouldn't get on board for a law protecting abortion in case of rape, incest and the women's health. Also tack on a right to access to contraceptives.

Manchin is the nation's last Dixiecrat. At least he has an excuse. It's Sinema who I'm really frustrated with. Manchin has taken a lot of heat for her.

WV is near or at the bottom of the list in a metric duck ton of quality of life measures.
Quality of federal representation is just one of many.
Sinema I just don't understand. I hope she gets successfully primaried in 2024.

Excellent opportunity for GOP to show what happens to people who don't adhere to message discipline. They get primaried. Don't ever think you're more powerful than the GOP party apparatus, unless you're Trump of course.

I wouldn't blame him that's for sure. I think Garland is trying to be as much by the book
as much as he possibly can be. Of course, if prosecutions of former high officials do eventually
happen, the fascists will claim it's all political regardless.

This has nothing to do with message discipline, he exposed the GOP orgies and drug abuse. Cawthorn was if nothing else, a loyal brown shirt.
