2-1 victory at Hertha.
Should’ve played like this away from home all season long.
Schalke meanwhile promoted after a victory against St. Pauli.

I am just glad Mainz doesn’t have to play in the losers league next year.
Entertaining 2-2 draw against Eintracht.
Gonna be a little bit of a turnover on our roster this year.
Leaving:
Brosinski
St. Juste
Boetius
Stöger
Most likely leaving:
Dahmen
Possibly leaving (I hope not):
Niakhate
Burkardt
Brosinski had a solid 8 years at the club. So glad they gave him a nice last day.
Losing Niakhate and Burkardt would really hurt.
Signed some new guys so far:
Caci
Barkok
Da Costa
Also, hoping for some progress from the youngster’s next year. Tauer, Nebel, Bobzien, Papela, Shabani, Weiper…hopefully one or two of them can make an impact.

Bielefeld and Fürth relegated.
Hertha in the relegation. Wouldn‘t be the worst thing for Berlin to go down and clear their payroll from all the overpaid scrubs. I hear they have a great youth in place right now. Just need to give them a chance.

Hoping we can get at least one of Doan, Wimmer, Okugawa and a solid CB in the offseason.
Should have a good roster them assuming Niakhate stays.

Signed a left footed CB today in Leitsch from Bochum.
Guess that means Niakhate is gone. Sucks.

Up 1-0 and Leipzig only has 10 man left.
Could be the best day in Freiburg history.
Would love to see Streich winning this.

Spoke a little too soon.
Disappointing considering RB Leipzig were down to 10 men.

Freiburg had over 1 hour to win this with a 1 man advantage.
Unbelievable they blew it.

Özcan to Dortmund for 5 mil.
Witsel replacement.
Good deal - he was having a strong season.

Mainz U19 striker Nelson Weiper has been on fire during the U17 European championship.
3 goals and 2 assists in 3.5 games so far.
Dude also killed it in the U19 team with 9 goals in 5 games.
Looks like one of the next guys from Mainz youth who will make the Bundesliga squad one day.

Paul Nebel to Karlsruhe on loan without purchase option.
Probably the best for his development given he didn't get too many minutes last season.
Might mean that we are never going to see him and Burkardt together on Mainz, though.
Those two in their prime would be a wild combination.

How do you folks feel about Buli next season? Bayern seems on the downturn due to holding on to golden oldies like Muller and Neuer too long on expensive contracts and risking it with Gnabry/Goretzka but I have no sense for whether Dortmund is in good position to replenish from Haaland sale and growth of other teams in the league.

IMHO, Dortmund roster was too big in recent years.
They have multiple players on their roster where my thoughts are always why the hell is this guy on Dortmund? Kinda a messie mentality from the management. Signed too many guys that have no business being on their roster.
Meunier, Brandt, Wolf, Passlack, Zagadou, Can, Pongracic to name a few. Some of them are leaving this offseason. But even with the Haaland departure. Dortmund lost a lot of money during covid. Doubt they have much money left for purchases after spending 60 mil. already.
With the departure of Haaland, the only world class player they have left is Bellingham.
So far they have signed Adeyemi, Özcan (had a strong season with Cologne) and Schlotterbeck (I am not a huge fan but at the very least he should be better than an aging Hummels) which looks like decent signings.
All in all, I think Dortmund will be okay next year but still have no chance to compete with Bayern over a full season even if Lewandowski leaves. I feel like they are two-three top class players away from being competitive with Bayern.
They could use a top class winger, right back and central forward. Everyone they have on these positions is either a tier or two below top class or injury prone / aging.
And yeah they need to continue to shred deadweight from their payroll.

Re: 2021-22 German Bundesliga Discussion Thread
So it seems that Niakhate might leave to Nottingham Forest.
Already signed Leitsch to replace him.
Still think we could use an upgrade on a couple positions, mainly:
OM, right CB, a winger (we have nobody at all on the wing)
If Aaron leaves, we might wanna look into signing another LB given Lucoqui was really bad last year.

Is Eintracht really going to sign Mario Götze?
He had a decent season with PSV but why the hell do they want to tie budget to a fairly washed aging star?

Thought I read a release clause of €60 million beginning summer 2023 was inserted in the deal. If he performs close to his numbers last year, he won't be at RB Leipzig much longer.

Well, I thought he was gone this offseason already. So having him one more year is a plus for the plastic club.
Unfortunately, they might be looking at Jonny Burkardt next year if they have a lot of money in hand from the Nkunku transfer.
