Something to also consider is which players wouldn't mind staying in Orlando, almost their entire career. Who wants to be like Dwight and get to a larger market vs who wants to build a legacy like Dirk with 1 team? Someone could be supremely talented but you know they won't stay long; that weighs into these decisions.

I think any true alpha superstar would want to leave Orlando unless they are international.

Ok... watching these POs, if Paolo is really like a heavier Tatum, im on his bandwagon. Sheeesh. People, never underestimate the skill or advantage of our best player being able to handle the ball and breakdowm the defense.
Once in the league il try to slim Paolo down to 235lbs at most. Who cares about lockdown defense, if he can carry the team in offense, thats good enough.

Yep. I'd see how he plays a little lighter too.
And he's never going to be as bad on defense as Luka, Trae, Jokic, KAT, and Ja - all guys who made All-NBA this season.

Yup.. we got teams deep in the POs where their stars are being hidden om defense. We got sooooany defensive players o think it will work out for us.
But yeah theres a vidin the knicks forum where Paolo ,s moves against competition looks so much Tatum like.

I do get why people want Paulo. He is the best of the big 3 at catching the ball on the perimeter and creating offense for his team. I think the question you have to ask yourself is can he do that in the NBA? I don't know. He's def NOT the same type of player as Tatum...he's much more in the Julius Randle mode. Is that the best player in this draft?

I am no expert on the draft outside of the top 15 picks or so. However based on what I have researched, I believe Paulo will be the best player in five years. For the Magic I would still take Jabari Smith as I feel he fits in better offensively and defensively with what we have now and I don't feel that Paulo and Smith's primes won't be far off from one another.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

if Paolo would be the best player in 5 years, why wouldnt you take him? with the draft, you take talent and BPA over fit.

I disagree, in this draft I think you can afford to go with fit.

That’s certainly what many of the prevailing opinions here seem to think.

Paolo seems like the most likely to succeed regardless of talent and coaches around him while Chet and Jabari need specific players and systems to be successful.
I don't want our #1 pick to be dependent on the rest of the team and the coaching staff - we haven't had much success with either of those the past 10 years.
I have no doubt Paolo gonna succeed on the personal level. Getting big contracts & putting up good counting stats. I just doubt his team's gonna be successful with him as a No 1 option. Chet & Jabari I'm much more convinced they help you winning basketball games.

Well college seems to show something quite opposite. Paolo helped Duke get into top 4 of ncaa tournament while Jabari and Chet had very limited impact on winning.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Its not bad but he lost a lot credibility for me when he said one of the main reasons he got Jabari No. 1 is his explosive 1step. I was waiting for the Nick Young meme to appear.
The transition argument with Chet is only half true too. He describes it as if Chet scored mainly on coast to coast drives in transition and he can't do this in the NBA but he scored a ton of those points on transition 3's. That's a shot you always get in the NBA and is totally translatable. It's Vuc's main 3point weapon too.

I don't care much for NCAA success. That almost never translates for star players. Almost every star in the one and done Era lost early.
2nd this Duke team probably got 4 or 5 future NBA players. I just don't trust his player type at all. But I admit it's probably a lot personal bias against one way off. Bigs in general.

Jabari got by players he just didn't know how to deal with the help defender. If the court is wide-open he'll finish more.GelbeWand09 wrote:

And-1
I do not think Banchero has the highest upside, but if WeHamm does, they would take him. The only other option from BPA at #1 is a Brink's-truck trade for the pick. Those are the only two rational scenarios.

On Simmons' game 2 podcast, Russillo, with an off-comment, says everyone he's asking thinks Jabari goes 1.
Take it for whatever, but he's very plugged in.
