Glad he got another 2nd Team All-Defense. Hope that means we can trade him for a 1st rounder and get an actual 2-way wing who isn't a liability when it counts.

Thybulle a salary dump to save money? If so, I may have to stop rooting for this team:

He's not a salary dump other than the specter of having to pay a one-way offensive liability after next year, when he will be due a rookie max. If an opportunity comes up to replace Thybulle in the rotation with a player who can play some defense and doesn't require us to play 4 vs 5 on offense, now is the time to do it. Let someone else pay him.

Yeah, I can't see them committing to Thybulle long-term with the Harden situation unresolved and Maxey due a big payday in two years time. If Morey can get a protected first round pick in return for him to potentially use in a Tobias trade, I'd be happy.

I have no problem with moving him for an upgrade and I agree that now is the time to theoretically sell high. However, the article speculates that the Sixers motivation would be to lessen their tax blow. I'm no capologist by any stretch but if they replace Thybulle with another player making the same amount, wouldnt the Sixers find themselves in the same tax situation?

Sorry, didn't read the article, I was just commenting with regard to Thybulle on court. Agree with you as far as the tax, that's the first I've seen of that.

Short term, yes. Long-term beyond next season? It depends on what Thybulle will command on the market. I'm guessing that it will be somewhere in the $12-15 million per year range.

Im actually not as down as you guys on Thybulle. He was actually trending up until he missed those games in Toronto.

His shot seen some slight improvement, he was looking like a good fit on offense with his cutting, leaking out and some spot up.

But man.. we need some length. Like serious length. No more Thybulle and Green at SF.

It's shocking how bad his reb% is, hence why he's such a liability at forward (on top of being offensively...challenged).

Guy just got too tall to be a corner back as intended.

I just don’t see Morey moving Thybulle for future. My guess would be he trades Tisse in a package with someone (please Tobias) for win-now player (Beal).

Morey’s under pressure. It’s his third off-season here. He needs this team to be better then another semis exit. Rookies or picks are not difference makers.

Very talented prospect, but I have concerns about his work ethic and ability to improve. He hasn't improved at all since coming into the league and even regressed in some areas. And he doesn't appear to be available much.

I was about to ask you about him. I thought his jumper looks improved and he would be a very good fit for our team. I wouldnt be surprised if he wins or be in the conversation for MIP in the next 2-3 seasons.

Up to this point, he's played in just 80 regular season games since being drafted. So it may be unfair of me to question his work ethic. His injuries have prevented a lot of that would-be development, I suppose.

I would be very happy for him to be in that conversation. I'm just unsure. I was a bit mixed on his playoff appearance. He played a ton of minutes and competed on defense. His shooting splits were subpar, though (33% from three, 72% from free throw). I just prefer my wings to be a little more skilled. He looked the part at Florida State in small minutes, but at the NBA level, he hasn't cemented himself as a skilled guy yet.

I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the fact that Matisse went from playing the best basketball of his life once Harden got here to being a complete liability. He totally **** up his confidence by having to sit because he refused to take a second COVID vaccine after he already got the first one lol. Just such a ridiculous scenario that feels like it could only happen to a Sixer.

That's trade negotiations in public. No chance Thybulle magically learns to shoot in his age 25 season.
