Would of liked to see the team get two bigger forwards over just one.

Sochan sounds like a good solution to size and defense issues up front past Poetl, but the team could still really use another big SF past Keldon and Diop (Diop who may not be a long-term solution, but also could be.). One more big forward would really be nice off the bench as an athlete, defender, finisher that can shoot a bit. Diop is still young enough where he could actually be that while getting better and can't really go get a bunch of money elswhere yet.

Now with the two wing guards Wesley and Branham, they are definitely intriguing prospects for what they're make up is, but really can't see where they'll fit yet, until the other 6-7 guys fate is decided later in the summer:

Murray
Vassell
Walker
Primo
Langford
Weiskamp
Richardson
etc? (think thats all of them)
--
Branham
Wesley

Be a very interesting offseason.

Lonnie's a goner with the Malaki selection. You'll notice a difference right away.

What this means is that we can stash #25 in Austin, use #9 and #20 right away in the lineup, get better on D and O and have more cap space.

We do have a ton of guards again, so that's... interesting...

I was being a smartass about Walker

Although it will now take Branham 3 years to grow enough balls to take an open shot in an NBA game like Walker did so how is he any different?

We could have stashed someone with potential like Jovic instead of a career g-leaguer with #25.

I'm not totally against Sochan but we already have enough guys on this team who cant score.

I can't believe I'm saying this but how does Detroit get Duren from the stupid Knicks? We could have done the same with Kemba Walker and bought him out since we probably wont use our cap space anyway. At least Detroit is thinking ahead while we are still filling out our Austin roster.

I'm half in a Chianti bottle so bear (bare?0 with me as I try to make sense of what you wrote.

Mal will easily EASILY replace LWIV. Like, it's just not even in the same stratosphere. Buckets. EFFICIENT buckets.

Sochan is a Dray type. Swiss Army type with big upside. A true modern PF, too. We don't have that. Maybe it's the Tuscany region talking, but we did our homework with him - this group, a large group. Seems like it took us a while to make the selection so perhaps there was some discussions going on, but this is the player we decided on who will fill in a starting PF role soon and grow into it with us.

It's fine with Kemba and the picks.

We're not done yet and we just got more cap space with trading #38.

Jovic dropped a LOT from earlier in his career to later. Dude's a defensive STIFF.

Like we busted on Luka, and you have to think we learned our lesson.

We're in a different situation than Heat, too.

We have something cooking with all that cap space I'm telling you...

Mal's a bucket. No more worrying whether a layup will be made.

Remember that we were one of the highest scoring teams in Pop's NBA coaching career. And with some internal development and Mal added who is NOT SHY about scoring, LWIV's tenure is all but done.

Not at all worried about the Kemba transaction. NYK is positioning itself for a likely maybe of of Irving, I think.

We now have more cap space that we've YET DONE ANYTHING WITH.

Patience...

I honestly think this is a lingering Luka Samanic effect. Ever since him we are afraid to think outside of the box anymore....

Oh crap. I think I responded to this twice

Chianti! WEEEE!!!!

lol

I doubt it because we have a different group making the decisions.

Samanic was the last of RC's selections.

Primo, Tre, and this season's draft was Brian Wright taking the reins.

Think how many other teams passed on Jovic - including Nuggets - who like int'l players.

And Heat are in a different place than we are.

All our players are super young (all born in 2003 - crazy, right?!), have two-way upside.

We learned from the one-way physical specimen only of Luka.

Let's just wait and see.

We're not done yet with the extra cap space...!

We are rightly getting TONS of LOVE for both Sochan and Branham.

Even Wesley was slotted earlier than our #25 pick.

Regardless of position, this was a great draft for us.

Really like what I see from Dom Barlow.. could really be a steal as a legit rotation player as a big forward:

Like a more athletic Kyle Anderson : )

Hope you enjoyed the bottle of wine Grey and hope you’re feeling better grump. I’ve gone over multiple graft grades and Grey was right, overall our haul is being graded pretty well, so kudos and hopefully I’m wrong and these players are all make an impact.

But, I can’t imagine all of these players sticking with us, before the draft I heard there was no way we were bringing 4 rooks to camp but as of now we have 5? Three draftees and 2 UDFAs.

And my memory is a little foggy but trades involving recent draftees doesn’t really happen after the draft right?

So, to sum up a busy draft night, we stayed pat and look to be keeping all three of our first round draft picks - a first for us to have so many.

We selected:

#9 - Jeremy Sochan

#20 - Malaki Branham

#25 - Blake Wesley

#38 - Kennedy Chandler - traded to Memphis for a second round pick and cash considerations

From the undrafted pool of players we signed:

- Dominick Barlow, PF, to a two-way contract

- Jordan Hall, point-forward

- Darius Days, PF

- Kyler Edwards, combo-guard

- Josh Carlton, C

The 18-year-old averaged 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds on .530/.339/.764 shooting splits across 25 games for Team Overtime.

Barlow signed with Overtime Elite, a groundbreaking professional league that affords prep players an alternative route to the NBA outside of NCAA and G League Ignite basketball.

Dom Barlow is one of the lesser known 2022 NBA Draft prospects but NBA scouts have taken notice. Playing with the new Overtime Elite league, he’s shown rapid improvement and is looking the part of a second round pick, with first round potential.

Dom is a versatile player on both ends of the floor. On offense he scores inside and out, can create his own offense and has a lethal mid range game. He can hit the 3 pointer, take his man off the dribble and has the size and strength to bang down low. He’s got excellent shooting form and a very project-able shot.

On defense he can guard all over the court, showing of his nice mobility, fluid hips and good anticipation. He’s a hard worker who puts in the effort needed to be a good defender.

 Yeah well he's undrafted, right? The wide stance is weird but whatever we have fixed plenty of players' overall shooting motions, including tendencies to kick out or land too far forward, etc. We like him enough to have signed him to a two-way contract already so there's a lot more beyond the fixables that we like.

Last sentence of the scouting report above is probably key, and I am fully on board with guys who have that as a foundation and are willing defenders.

I think I'm more upset with the stupid AAU coach nerd in the video saying how good he is. FIX HIS SHOT YOU STUPID NERD!!!!! YOU REALIZE HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN ACTUALLY DRAFTED IF YOU WOULD HAD WORKED WITH HIS RELEASE????
