Re: Knicks Draft Post Mortem
Current FO is all about FA through connection which have not paid any dividend so far. If Randle is staying then I want Beal or Kyrie. No thanks to Brunson. Anyway, we should have at least took Jovic.

We are going to end up with Brogdon or Tyus Jones. Hate this team. Don't even provide false hope anymore.

I don’t even mind that we want Brunson.. I just hate that we had to give up a lottery pick to even make it a possibility. If we didn’t give out garbage contracts to Fournier, Burks, kemba and Noel we’d still have our pick while having cap space to get their boy Brunson. Sigh

It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

bingo...the process of wanting to sign brunson isn't wrong.
The process where we decided to operate as an over the cap team and thought we signed a bunch of moveable pieces has proven to be absolutely wrong. We are either going to have to move more picks or someone like cam reddish to clear more space now.
Going after Brunson is not the issue. The fact the FO just makes moves without understanding the future ramifications is the issue. In less than a year they are trying to get out of all the contracts they signed which we were told were easily movable.

If Kyrie declines his player option, we would be the only team on his “list” that could offer him the most money without a s&t

Re: Knicks Draft Post Mortem
I just hate that we keep going in circles.
We signed a bunch of vets last offseason.
In April, Leon said he would commit to the youth.
Yesterday, he trades a lotto pick for heavily protected picks and dumps an 8M exp.
Absolutely inept.

I think I’d rather have Kyrie than Brunson at this point. It’ll be more entertaining at least.

Re: Knicks Draft Post Mortem
So they punted again.
This is why I didnt get into all the scouting stuff this year because I figured the pick would be traded down or out. Sucks for those who put the time in and got excited for nothing.
Brunson would seem like a lock to come here now though. Would be a colossal LOL if he doesnt after all this. Will need to make a few more moves still to make it happen. We can only hope Brunson becomes a Kyle Lowry type then.
This team’s vision is pathetic though. Signed all these vets last year, and now using assets to get rid of em just to get Brunson.
Other moves are coming, for better or (likely) worse. Still have logjams all over. Maybe one day we’ll do something with all these “assets” we’re collecting.

Re: Knicks Draft Post Mortem
That was a risk in hopes to keep Knicks a playoffs team and build some good track record but what's bad is Knicks didn't have plan b/c/d/e after in case it didn't work out and they never tell fanbase what the FK plan is. Leon and WWW have gone into hiding again. While some folks now think we are in the running for Kyrie/Beal/Lavine/Murray/Brunson I for sure don't believe Knicks are on any of those players list when the FA is over they will keep lying that they have a plan and continue hiring Leon's family circle.3toheadmelo wrote:I don’t even mind that we want Brunson.. Three off seasons of treading water in mediocrity and punting picks down the road while they cap out with the likes of Randle, Fournier and soon RJ, not to mention the collection of 30 something sucktastic vets they have, who if the DO move them, will require the use of "assets" they are stockpiling - which is EXACTLY what happened to move Zombie Kemba off the team, and you are "good with this" ?
Really?
We'll just have to wait for 2025 for "the plan to all come together"?
Yeah, no.
This FO sucks donkey d*ck.
There might be a couple of good guys doing technician work since the clearly aren't part of the "vision", but whoever is driving the path and doing the major advising, and I figure that's Thibs/Perry/WWW talking to Rose, then yeah, those guy's suck.
Imagine how much more they'll suck when Aller packs his bags in disgust, which has got to be happening any moment now.
Not OK if it amounts to nothing in FA but the offseason is not just about the draft only. It has to be in context with next years vision. Maybe they want to compete this year. If so and they pull of Brunson AND a star then in its full context it is a much better offseason than we thought. Point is, we can't get out the pitchforks just yet without seeing the entire plan here and if they can successfully execute on it.
Brunson + this current team - Burks/Noel (who gets cleared) = 35-38 wins. Just in the sweet spot of worst possible lottery pick, 1st pick out of the lotto.
Enjoy.
And if it was more than Brunson? All these extra picks sure look like they want to make a trade too. And for a Thibs team and our needs the guy that lines up best by far is Murray. Add to the fact that he is 'only' a 16M cap hit I could see us making the big trade of assets for him.

the deal is if we just picked a direction to play young guys live with the results and use the draft as a way to improve we may be in the situations the Pistons/Magic/Rockets/OKC are in right now. They are all in better situations then us with there young cores.
Sacramento at this point might be the only team that rivals us with the, wtf are you doing.

It would definitely be more entertaining. I think I would take him over Brunson as well. Brunson’s potential contract will give me Fournier vibes in year 2 + when we try moving it with assets down the road.
Kyrie is a great player but has a ton of baggage. I don’t think his value could be any lower right now. His play style would be great for us though

Knicks are going to dump those picks for Brogdon and Turner then sell us the depth nonsense.

Only 1 of those big fish guys is a borderline elite defender and thats Murray. We know Thibs desperately wants backcourt defense as evidenced by the better 2020 team that had Elfrid no offense Peyton playing major minutes.
I don't know if they get Murray but I wouldn't be surprised if he is our #1 target (in addition to Brunson).
