Dudes not a bad shooter, he just took some bad shots, that can be corrected

Will he be Steph with the 3, no... But he's not exactly Dwight Howard shooting 3s

Didn't Suggs also shoot 34% in college? If you can't really excel at the college 3, at least near 40%, then you probably aren't an NBA level shooter. I think the Magic here went with bully ball and aren't really banking on him becoming a great shooter. They just want a guy who can score and facilitate a little. If it turns out he's really good at those things, then I guess we have to get a roster that will fit around him.

Still very hyped for Paolo. He was number 1 on my board the entire time. Im still stunned we actually picked him

We play Houston on July 7th. It won't be a good look for the front office if Smith goes off.

Congrats magic fans! I’m glad you guys went with banchero, your team now has a ton of size and skill at the forward spots.

If he can embrace his frame and learn to initiate/leverage contact then he could really be a beast.

Thanks. Detroit looks scary after getting Ivey and Duren. Hard to believe Duren is only 18 with that body.

The most interesting thing to me is that Banchero, while perhaps possessing the most offensive upside of the top 3 prospects, certainly on paper appears to be the worst fit with the existing roster.

Now personally I could care less about fit when you're dealing with a 22-win roster, but it does seem like for better or worse, the Magic need to start making personnel decisions moving forward with a "how does player X fit with Banchero, Wagner and Suggs?" mindset.

Wagner's skillset fits with just about anybody. Suggs is really the huge question mark because of his poor handle and 3pt shooting at guard. If he cant improve those dramatically he is just another guy.

IDK if you guys saw the Magic's social media, but they had former Magic GM John Gabriel making the call to let the NBA know of the Banchero pick. That was nice of them.

It's confusing in sense that they didn't worked him out.
If they were so high on him why they couldn't find somebody to "tell a message" to his camp that they like him and would like to see him first hand?

Instad, what we did was run around with Jabari Smith and made complete fool out of him.
It feels like our front office has a low motor. Paolo worked out weeks with Miller in Memphis, Hammond could have jumped on a plane and been at the workout in less than two hours.

Paolo wasn't who I wanted. If we had No. 3, then yes. But I'll get fully behind him now and see what he can do. I'm concerned about the defense, but there's no doubt we got a scorer now. I'm not worried about his shot developing and we should have a starting lineup full of people who are capable of hitting from deep minus Fultz. But I'm not sure we have anybody who will spread the floor or create spacing.

My fear is that we don’t make moves for the sake of ‘evaluation’ and mishandle the development of those 3 in particular.

I think DET won the draft. Duren is downright frightening  chiseled from granite. I think Ivey is a star too. We'll have to see how they all fit together. The Grant trade was an initial disappointment- but they have a ton of cap space to work with. I think they are ready to take a step.

I don't mind them not working him out. they've seen him in a ton of games, tape, etc. He cleared medical records. Do you really need to see the guy take some jumpers and run a few drills? He was in the Final Four with Duke, played plenty of top competition (including Chet).

My guess is he was their guy from the jump, and they only worked out others to see if they were blown away or needed to reconsider. Instead, they never came away more impressed from what they saw in those guy's games, nor their workouts, to question their decision.

I'm excited for it. I've said I think Chet has the highest ceiling but is the most likely to bust. Smith is the most likely to turn into a great #2, but i'm not sure if he can be THE guy. Paolo has a slightly lower ceiling than Chet, but I think his odds of getting there are higher, and if he does he can be a true #1, which is what the Magic have desperately lacked since the end of the Dwight era.

If they sign Ayton then the Pistons can be top 10 in the East, IMO.

You kidding ,right? Because your team is really going anywhere with Reggie Jackson vol.2 and poor man Eric Bledsoe ?

For love of the God STOP overhyping Fultz into something he isn't . He was drafted 5 years ago. for half of a decade he continued to prove he ISN'T what he was proclaimed to be before draft .He is the worst first overall pick since Bennett. He is bust.
At apsolute best ,Fultz is your middle of the road- top 20 PG in nba. In way more realistic scenario, Fultz is overused T. J. McConnell /homeless Westbrook.
He isn't good defender, he can pass but he can't shoot from long range, he is forced to take mid range shots who are in general bad shots and there is nothing for him to do in modern offense if ball isn't in his hands. BUT he,himself, isn't good enough to have ball in his hands most of the time. So you are stuck between rock and hard place where you have to pander offense to him, and in same time he isn't THAT good where that's justified.

Yeah, I feel like people have become attached to certain players (or a certain vision) of this team without realizing, as this a rebuild, unless you are "that guy or those guys" (who the magic haven't really established yet maybe with the exception of franz) their fit doesn't really matter and could be moved to build a more cohesive team.

People has to understand rebuild is about those 2-3 top five picks you gain from tanking.
stop.

our rebuild is about: Wagner-Suggs-Banchero.
that is the core.
fultz, anthony, hampton and whoever else has to be functional to those guys.

it is(should be)also a way to take front office accountable

Recent top picks are not always part of a core. Remember Fultz was supposed to be part of the core in Philly and Jabari Parker was supposed to be the core in Mil. It's really about who shows up on the court and fits what the team is doing going forward. As of right now the magic really don't have anything set in stone maybe with the exception of Franz, and that is typically the case until you find "that guy" or "guys" then you just build around them.

Thanks. It’s gonna take them both a while to develop and they’re both pretty boom/bust but the potential is there.

Meanwhile Paolo will probably be running 4/5 pick and rolls from day one.

I think drafting Duren turns their focus away from Ayton. Ayton just lost a big bargaining chip, IMO. I don't see who else throws a max at Ayton...maybe NY if they clear more cap and strike out on Brunson or Kyrie or whoever they're looking at.

Agree...I was figuring if DET got Ayton, they move up quick...this is probably a more sensible, sustainable plan-like ORL FO.

Miles Bridges who played at Michigan State could be a target. He probably fits the team the best.
