What on earth could lead you to "feel" that? Do you have info that BC is on the way out?

He said he left because of his daugther health and his marriage was crumbling. He didn't have the balls to directly say our health system sucks.

Yeah, that was in there too. Something like "we had to go to the US to get it taken care of", which with the kind of money Chuck was probably making, means he'd rather pay to get things done right away instead of waiting 6 months here.

Can anyone tell me the whole story about Chuck leaving? Cant listen to audio where I am at. I heard at the time he left was because something about his wife wanting out a la Antonio Davis' wife. So what was the full story according to Chuck?

According to some posters he left because he basically said Canada's health system sucks which I kind of agree at this point as well as Chuck and even Brock Lesnar who decided to drive back down to the US for like 2 hours in extreme pain cause he didnt like the hospital care he was admitted to.

He just said his kid had health issues, so he had to go back to Chicago to get that taken care of. He also said his marriage was crumbling at the time, so he went back to Chicago to try to save it. His marriage failed. He's been gone for 4years, divorced for the last 2.

If anyone know what the issue is with his kid, maybe we can comment on whether their problem was the Canadian system, or perhaps they just needed extra family help to take care of the kid.

From what I'd heard years ago, the issue was not with the Canadian health care system, but with Swirsky's wife's family being nearby to help with the care of his child. The health issue (which I don't know the specifics of) was something that could be treated in Canada, but the support of family, driving to treatments, etc. was easier in Chicago.

That said, the health care issue is a side issue. Chuck's wife had pretty much decided she was moving with the kids back to Chicago, with or without Chuck. So Chuck made the move - which is completely understandable.

Sadly the marriage crumbled because of it.

Obviously it wasn't the health-care system. Because most Canadians don't make as much as Chuck let alone have money to go to the US for treatment. So if chuck made the average income his kid wouldn't get treated? And to say Canada didn't have the means to look after his kid is foolish. I doubt it was serious, because if it was, Chuck would end up with a huge hospital bill which he couldn't even afford in the US. This was clearly a marriage and his wife wanting to be closer to home/ family imo.

As for Brock, doctors in the US diagnosed him with mono which they falsely did I might add. He decided to go hunting in Manitoba I believe and fell ill with whatever he had from the US. He got good treatment (wasn't life threatening) but refused to wait, because he felt his **** didn't stink. So he drove 2 hours back to the US for treatment. Obviously it wasn't a serious issue if he drove 2 hours, he just felt he was too good to be treated like others.

I'll take Swirsky's style of homerism over Heinsohn's any day of the week.

You just lost yourself 10 Tommy points.

Chuck is a class act. I still catch myself yelling about onions from time to time. Not so much the salami and cheese because, well, you know how it is. I miss the Swirsk because like others have mentioned, he was a true Raptors fan at heart and showed genuine enthusiasm (or homerism, whichever). It probably won't happen, but I'd welcome him back with open arms.

you guys make me sick trying to find out the details behind his departure - he told Eric a lot more than most people in the business would. Leave the man alone and let him live his life, this is his PERSONAL LIFE... i dont see the need for this to be a discussion

Chuck made me a raptor fan bc of his fun way commenting the game..always miss the guy

DGW wrote:Devlin's a curse! Ever since we had him, the team's been going backwards. Look at the teams Devlin has commentated for...Charlotte..Memphis (just ignore that Hubie Brown 50 win season. Hubie > Devlin).

Notice the teams Devlin commentates for don't make the playoffs...it makes him available to help out TNT and get more exposure.

I miss Chuck a lot. He was the true voice of the Raptors. I felt like he really cared and was able to connect with the fan base so well. Don't get that vibe with Devlin. I think he tries to hard and comes off very goofy and awkward. I'm personally shocked he has not been replaced.

When someone is that rigid, "I am going with or without you", it basically tells you its over, you are not being treated with respect, and there is little concern for your opinion in the matter.

Chuck found himself in an onion shortage.

TheDoctor wrote:Devlin is solid but not perfect on the air, and absolutely fantastic in person. He is a much much better ambassador for the organization at team events and around the league with regular people. He's also far better connected and liked by players, executives, and media people alike. There's a reason he gets called on to do national broadcasts. He's very different from the Swirsk, but taking it all into account I far prefer him.

Saunders was great back in the day. :D

I can attest to this. Devlin is absolutely a great ambassador for the Raptors, and a very genuine guy from what I've seen. I met him at a Raptors training camp, and he was absolutely great and open, getting into with fans and very much enjoying himself. Seemed like a great guy.

If he was to insist on staying, he'd be disrespecting her. But you're right that it was probably all over before he even left.

Again considering you know nothing about the situation I think it's pretty stupid to be commenting on it in these terms.
