Because Harden is a better playmaker than Kobe is at this stage, Dwight can have a legit star guard to play with for years.
It's obvious that the Rockets is a better place to be to win now, than the Lakers.

I think Dwight Howard at age 28 will benefit a young team that doesn't expect him to be "the man." Also Houston is NOT LA or CHI or NY when it comes to the media (and one boring town). All the Rockets need is D-12 to be an individual defender, which he can...and scoop up the rebounds and blocked shots. the things the other players don't want to do. Also, Lin is going to love D-!2 on the pick/roll. Harden and the shooters is going to love the kick out. Greg Smith is going to love doing the little things.
It's the PERFECT fit. Does it lead to Championships? Can't say. Does it make the team MUCH better? Absolutely.

The problem is that Dwight Howard desperately wants to the "The Man" and was tired of not getting enough exposure in a mid-market like Orlando
Dwight isn't going somewhere so he can play the Tyson Chandler role

That cat flip/flops so much...I think what Dwight thinks "the man" means and what it really means are two completely different things.
I still think it's a step forward for Houston but I do not think that's going to get them to the big dance...yet.
