Not having to pay Teague $8 million per year IS catching a break. Now hopefully they don't ruin this good fortune by signing Jennings.

i agree, i see exactly what Ferry is doing and its a good move. using Korver, Millsap, and probably Teague as tradeable assets this year or next year.

Just like with Eric Gordon, i think we are going to hear Teague's name on the trading block come the trade deadline.

This is the biggest fear. And Teague wanted to be in Milwaukee! A Teague/Ridnour/Wolters pg rotation would've been a pleasant change from the last season's guard rotation.

I'm not sure a bullet was dodged considering he improves every year.

The only way I like this move at all for Atlanta is if we plan on trading Teague, Korver and Millsap. We need to tank. Keeping mediocre players like Teague, Korver and Millsap is not going to win a ring or be bad enough to get in the lottery.

Hopefully all three are traded this season and we finish in the lottery.

It's funny tho, every hawks game I've been too. There is always more fans for the guest team then there is for the Hawks. For example the Bulls and Heat games stand out to me the most. It's crazy!

But yea I was talking to a friend and he told me the Hawks need a "Star". In recent memory they haven't had that "star" player. They've had good players but not stars. They have just been a good treadmill team. This upcoming season is a really good opportunity to land a star by tanking or doing worse then past seasons and getting a top pick. But it looks like there just going to be another lower seed team in he playoffs or team looking in from outside..

Come on now. That is not true in the least bit. I live in Alabama and I go to Atlanta about 4 times a year for games. If you go to a game against a team like the Lakers, Heat, or Bulls then you will definitely see a good bit of "fans" from those teams, but to say there are more than Atlanta fans is ridiculous. You just notice them a lot more. I went to a Heat game in Atlanta just this past year and even then Atlanta outnumbered them significantly. You are just trying to bash Atlanta by saying there are more fans for the opposing team. Come on man...

This past season, there was a Heat game in Atlanta and there were Lets go Heat through out the arena, and you can here it on tv. And im not bashing, its the truth. They don't a very big fan base and compared to the other teams in Atlanta.

The Bucks now have the thoroughly pissed off and dissed Jennings. Lucky them.

Atlanta matching Teague was the smart play. If it turns out well, they must have noticed Philly turning their good PG into Noel and MCW. With Schroeder nipping at his heals, Teague becomes a potential fine asset in a trade in a year or two.

LOL at people saying that Jeff Teague isn't worth $8M a year. He produced a hair under that last year, and will continue to get better.

Well, Teague isn't close to Jrue's value, and it will only get worse if Schroeder catches up to him quickly.

Other than age, there isn't much of a difference between Teague and Jrue Holiday in terms of production. See for yourself.

Now I don't think we'd get the same value because as mentioned Teague is 2 years older, and players values get a bump when they get an All-Star nod, but Teague should still have good value in a few years. Maybe a team like Orlando will decide they need a PG and trade for him.

I assume Orlando is going to look at PG in next years draft instead. No point in trading for one/signing one this year. Wait for Marcus Smart and call it a day.

lol please, Holiday was a terrible defender last year and had horrible offensive efficiency. Teague was absolutely better than the glass breaking artist known as Holiday

Ah, so Teague is making the All-Star team to increase his value? If so, which PG's are he beating out? Sure, Jrue left the conference, but DRose is coming back, too.

I'm from Indianapolis and watched both the Teague's play some high school ball, so I really like them. I just think that Jrue Holiday is simply a better player, thus far.

Teague on his deal could potentially play up to or above Jrue's league worth if he improves again in the upcoming season, given every other year and being under a coach like Budenholzer... it's going to happen.

$8 mil per is a great deal.

I wouldn't say he's worth $8m per annum, yet. In the old CBA, maybe he would've gotten that. In this current CBA, where the luxury tax and higher salaries on non-superstar players can hamstring you (though not Atlanta, right now), it could be an issue. He could certainly earn it, or at least come close to earning $8m average, especially when that 4th year will likely come in around $9.5m to make the average work out.

Teague reminds me of how ppl viewed Mike Conley b4 these playoffs. A very underrated player with a pretty good ceiling. Teague is a nice player to have , a player you want on a winning team.
OJ Mayo , Michael Jordan , Allen Iverson.
