This is life in the new CBA. Oh well, it sucks, but we have to suck right now and get that pick while we can.

As much as I thought MD was great for both the tank and the development I am now in full wonder if we shouldn't put a system in place that is different just to see which players are fools gold prospects and who is a player... aka the Earl Clark litmus test. Let Rambis take over who knows these guys and see what goes on when the defense is made a hallmark of a coach struggling to prove D is still a commodity and he's a viable coach who cares about the franchise. Not saying sell him a room in the house, just saying at the point you hit a franchise worst you should be DONE and we have some talented guys we need to suss out in non NBA2k way.

I feel like D'antoni's going to get fired pretty soon. I know were in tanking mode, but this loss looks really bad on him.

I hope this deflates the team to stop trying so hard to win everygame...

PG - Farmar - Marshall
SG - Henry - (Bazemore)
C - Gasol - Kaman
PF - Hill -
SF - Bazemore - Johnson

A lack of PF depth not withstanding, the above team is talented enough to win way more games than the current record indicates.

Other than having an obvious chasm at PF, this team has enough talent to perform much better than they're showing.

The idea that this roster's talent is indicative of the worst record in the West is bull.

This team is clearly not being used in a manner where rebounding is honored.

This team is clearly not being used in a manner where defense is honored.

This team is clearly not being used in a manner where actual winning principles are being honored.

you gotta put things in perspective.

the starting pg you listed has missed half the season, and backup pg was out of the nba if it wasn't for a spot on the lakers

starting sg was out of the nba if it wasn't for a spot on the lakers as well and the backup sg rode the bench for two yrs never playing more than 6 mpg.

the backup sf you listed, johnson, had been given up on by two teams already and is having the best statistical yr of his career so can't expect much more.

starting center has been going through nagging injuries all year. the backup center you listed, kaman, may be your best example of a guy that should be used better but even he has had small nagging injuries all year and can't forget that the mavs basically didn't want him back because he repeatedly tried to play to his weaknesses and not his strengths.

jordan hill is playing a career high in mpg this season, not sure what to say about him, he's providing about what you'd expect.

the talent the lakers have had on the court is truly terrible. compare it to anyone else in the west, it doesn't match up. which team in the west has worse talent?

Next year we'll at least only lose by 20 to good teams.

wish this was the proverbial "nail in the coffin" for Antoni future with this team in any capacity.....his scheme is a joke, hi philsophy is a joke, and he's a joke. There shouldn't be system where the pieces needed have to be "specific" inorder to succeed. A good system will allow any players to adapt and adjust his game for better, Antoni offense highlights selfish ball with all the quick shots he's allowing the players to take, its also promoting players to inflate their #'s even more so since we're a bad team to get "theirs" so they can get paid next year.

We've done the same to them for thirty years. We had to figure we'd get at least a little payback at some point. If the Clippers think it means anything during a season when we're decimated with injuries and Kobe isn't out on the court then I have some swamp land in AZ I'd love to sell them on the cheap.

I couldn't disagree with this post more. The NBA, more than any other league, proves time and again you need talent to win on a nightly basis and right now the one thing the Lakers absolutely do not have out there on the court is talent.

I agree with your post but if I can play devil's advocate for a second here. Do you think we should dump D'Antoni and commit to a full 3-5 year rebuild or...

Stick with D'Antoni in the hopes that his gimmick system will magically provide a 6-8 seed playoff team when Kobe returns next year?

As much as I dislike MDA style of coaching, I'm 100% convinced his style of ball will never win an NBA championship unless he luckboxes a team with LeBron and KD, I have a hard time blaming any of our losses on him unless you want somehow argue his system leads to players getting injured more frequently but I don't see anybody making that claim.

The Clippers are just a scraggly squirrel trying to get a nut out of the back yard of another squirrel that over the years has gathered many nuts. So for that I don't hate them. Clipper fans on the other hand drive me absolutely insane! Most of them just like that awful team to be different. Their mommies and daddies didn't give them enough love when they were growing up or something.
