I agree with it, but I just don't know if it's right to put that out there in the media...

Maybe not but he's clearly putting his imprint on who is, and will be, in control of this franchise.

People who are worried about losing Melo need to just let go and let Phil. Melo can't win a title in NY as a big Max player, and probably that's true anywhere. If we drop Melo, Phil will build a team all his own. I'm fine with that.

The goal is not to retain Melo. It's to win a title. And retaining Melo at all costs kills that chance.

I mean it was quite obvious. They were doing to Woody what they did to Pringles only Dolan was falling for it.

I'm glad somebody said this because that was my whole thing with the MDA saga and I got roasted for it. As a front office, you never like to see a coach ousted because the players give up. Knicks actually did this year (with Woody) what I thought they should have done with D'Antoni. Publicly back him, let him finish out the year and fire him on YOUR terms. Not the players'.

When I saw the team suddenly flip a switch and try for Woody you knew it was coming that they would someday turn on him too. Why not? When the blame will never come down on them.

The Knicks didn't back the players though. Pringles resigned. So they were always doing what you thought they should have.

There was official word at/before the ASB that the Knicks planned on retaining Woody for the rest of the season and would go from there. D'Antoni never got even that much support. He "resigned" like Lenny "resigned."

Melo never once said he wanted KobeMax and from day 1 said he is willing to take a pay cut to build a winner.


When Melo says it he is lying and will sign here for the max and is all about money....

When Phil said he spoke again to Melo and Melo said again he is willing to take less to build a winner and "We will hold him to that"

Phil is the bomb I love him. Melo will take Phil's deal and like it.

im little shocked to hear to many players kinda quit on woody but then talked so glowingly about him to the media.... i think its pretty clear he should of been fired in the middle of the season if this is true and we might of made the playoffs.... but oh well

im really glad to hear phil say basically if melo is going to come back its going to be at a discount and he wont be getting the kobe max
