Having color on the sides wouldn't be bad, or have the color fade as you scroll down.

How can I explain this so it makes sense...

You know when you're reading a post? You have the squared off area on the left where the username is, posts count, avatar, etc. Then you have the area on the right where the actual post exists? The border that separates the two should be to the left more (so the area where the username is would be a tad smaller). So the post doesn't start so far off to the right...if that makes sense. It just looks way too 'off' for my tastes.

Kevin Johnson wrote:Responsive Design? Why is main content centered in a narrow middle wrapper then while about 50% of the available real estate is taken up by blank whitespace on the left and right?

Sure, it's good for mobile but you're unnecessarily taking away space from desktop views. Nothing responsive about that.

It is a mobile responsive design. It's not responsive to very large displays because we have it maxing out at a certain point. We felt it looked best to force a max width instead of having the site go full width at all times. If you resize the browser down to the size of a mobile phone, it will adjust with you - hence the responsive part.

I'm not getting notifications anymore for And1s. Is this an isolated issue or is everyone experiencing this?

We didn't attempt to fix things because they were broken, but we noticed room for improvement and took steps towards making the user experience the best we can. It's been a little bit of a rough transition today and a new design is always surprising when you first see it. There is a strong comfort level that you get accustomed to when you've been using a design for a long time. Give it some time and I think you'll be very happy with the new look and features.

If you go to your inbox and click 'Mark all as read', does it go away?

Just tried it but still the same. I went through each page and there's no message marked as unread.

I did have a message that was deleted by the sender before I read it, but that notification has disappeared from my inbox since the upgrade, that could be it?

Adding to this, if you put the team logos back to where they were before (going vertical) you could make the area on the left smaller. It's way to big right now. Looks weird.

Our forums are too large to take advantage of the server side post tracking feature. It would be awesome if we could, we know that, but it's too inefficient for a board this size. It's a cookie based system so each device will have their own post tracking information.

so yea, pretty much a trainwreck. Disappointing that it appears browsing this site might have suddenly become highly frustrating for no good reason whatsoever

and where are the post counts and and1 totals

Relax. We are still working out parts of the new notification system. Hang in there with us.

Post counts and And1 totals are still under under user names on wider screens and can be viewed on profiles on smaller devices.

I'm not sure I understand this one. Where are you losing space on the mobile version? It's a lot more compact and has less ads.
