I wouldn’t call Bazemore’s contract “reasonable”. He’s fairly overpaid, as were a lot of players around the time he got paid. But I could see Portland being interested in him. I doubt they’d offer anything in the way of salary savings, but maybe something like Turner, Vonleh (or Swanigan) and a pick?

Turner is the same age as Bazemore but paid a bit less for the same amount of years. Then the Hawks could get a young guy the Blazers won’t be able to keep like Vonleh or maybe Shabazz if the Hawks need a PG. Pick would be a second or heavily protected 1st.

Hmmm, maybe. I’d still need to know the protections on the 1st from Portland. It’d still need to be fully lottery protected imo.

The Hawks don’t strike me as a team desperate for cap space anytime soon. If you want to lessen protections on the pick and still get Swanigan, what’s your thoughts on adding in Bellinili or Illyasova for Leonard?

To throw out a trade, say this:

Blazers 1st (Protections: Top 10 in 2018, Top 5 in 2019, Top 3 in 2020 and reverts to 2nd rounders if not conveyed)

Yeah, I’m not too worried about the Blazers making the playoffs, but given the west and with Lillard battling injuries and the team having a murderous final month of the season, missing the playoffs isn’t totally out of the question. Obviously I’d be fine with full lottery protection tho if you are for the deal I listed.

Lil young to have tendinitis bad enough to require surgery in both knees. Did one of the old soviet coaches trade in his dacha for a chalet? I'll pause to let Spud marvel at my knowledge of European holiday homes... Okay, either he's training too intensely, incorrectly, or both.

Wow, both knees. Feel for the kid.

That's terrible for the kid moving forward in his career.

As bad as it sounds this takes him off the radar for me as far as his Hawks career is concerned. Tendinitis in both knees in his early 20s? I just hope he'll be able to walk normally in his 40s.

If you really look at current draft assets... they aren't that good... for a talent starved tanking team.

This years first is potential gold; really need to hit a HR. The two imported firsts are going to be a mid and late 20. Not very good.

Next season we should have another top pick and maybe a late lott from CLEV. Couple of seconds. If we get the lott pick from CLEV (top 10 prot I think), looking good. Still want more.

When the team is trying to pick itself up at the end of this rebuild, the acquired talent will be the difference maker. Got to get a lot of HIGH potantial out of these drafts.

So, yeah...not quite enough to end the rebuild in a single swoop.

And, with the way we've improved while Orlando and Sacramento have fallen apart, it might officially be time to start looking at prospects between 4-10 a little closer.

This would put us in Trae Young, Michael Porter Jr, Mo Bamba territory.

I only somewhat understand this.

But, yeah, moving our expiring vets for picks that will become future trade assets is a wise move.

Even if it's just consolidating middling picks to move up higher in the draft.

Illya, Beli and Dedmon have all upped their trade value, Baze too. MOVE THEM and set this draft up. I want TS to secure two top ten picks and another top 20. Trade the expirings and Baze, consolidate picks. This is a dang REBUILD.

Potentially picking 2nd instead of 1st isn't the end of the world but if we begin falling out of the range of Doncic or Ayton then this terrible season we're suffering through will be completely diminished.

The trade deadline can't get here quick enough.

I've noticed that there is many articles urging the Hawks to trade Dedmon but no one ever mentions Miles Plumlee.
Could he be too expensive for all those teams who are trying so hard to get into the playoffs?

So many good NBA players on our roster. Not great, but pretty good. Hawks want future draft picks and\or young,
underused players who just need to be coached up and to be given playing time and a chance.
