Dantoni wanted Melo to play the 4 and play like Team USA Melo. If CP3 and Harden can convince Melo that he will be successful in that catch and shoot role which he will. I could see D'antoni being interested. He fits in perfect there as a small ball 4.

From a Basketball standpoint your right. But this elephant in the room isint going anywhere....http://nypost.com/2017/05/09/mike-dantoni-comes-clean-i-quit-because-of-carmelo/
No way Houston trades for him.
"(Carmelo and I) don’t have a bad relationship. I speak to him. He’s a good guy,” D’Antoni, who coached Anthony as an assistant with Team USA, said last year on The Vertical podcast. “But I had one vision that I wanted him to play one way. He wanted to go the other way. I couldn’t get to my way.”

melo at the 4 looks good until you think about his defense. he ain't no shawn marion. that's a weak defensive team that will go nowhere in the playoffs even of they win 55-60 games in the rs.

The part in bold is why IMO Dantoni wants no part of Melo. He has just won coach of the year and its been a long road back. Why in the world would he bet on Melo buying in when he has already demonstrated he wants to call the shots, as far as Dantoni is concerned

well we aren't buying you out melo so one of those teams got to come with a couple assets. HOU has got to make a deal soon to get over the cap before midnight on friday.

the situation has changed. One of his best friends CP3 is on the team and I'm sure just like Harden and CP3 talked about sharing the ball. They would talk to melo about his role there. Much different situations from MDA here with Melo and MDA in HOU with Melo.
There are leaders already on that team.

sas said melo became a target instantly after chris paul arrived. he was getting calls within a half hour of the paul deal. they want to form their own big 3.

Good Point. Was kinda pondering on that as well. I guess Diantoni can take the high road, or Morey makes the decision for him. Believe me I hope it happens. What can Houston get us back in such a trade?
