I guess I am a little different than these people because I dont care what the money is like, if I am miserable at my current job, ill just find another one. And these girls are high up in their companies, that I would guess their resume is good enough to land another job, even if pay is a little lower.
Leaving a job after a short period of time always looks bad to potential employers - they wonder if something is wrong w/ you, etc. and if that’s why you are looking to get out. Most times you are asked why you are leaving on an application, in an interview, etc. It’s just not a desirable position to be in career-wise and these women shouldn’t have to deal w/ that because this guy is a jerk. Also, for some it could have been their dream job to work for an NBA team and now they have to give up something they worked hard for in order to not be harrassed - and it’s illegal.
It would be the same type of situation if a senior manager/CEO were to make racist comments towards minority employees - yeah, you can always leave the situation by finding a new job, etc. but you shouldn’t have to because it’s illegal.
That’s why people can and do sue over this type of stuff.

I don't like Cuban, but I think people would be surprise how little top executives really know about the work environment of their businesses and organizations.
He is not monitoring the activities of the ball-boys but I think he might be interested in what the team President & CEO is up to.

That's sarcasm.
This report is disgusting. Absolutely vile. Cuban certainly should be forced to sell and the Mavericks moved to Seattle.
Dallas is too big of a market.
It's not that big. It's 8th. Seattle would be 16th and it's growing rapidly. Texas has two other teams anyway.
Dallas is like 7th actually (Metro). Seattle is 15th.

The only way he would get that information is if the head of HR reported the allegations to him. And seeing how complicit he apparently was, I doubt he even told Cuban anything.

It is Cuban's job to have an HR that knows its their duty to report this to him.

As an owner of the business he is responsible for the choices of the managers he appoints. A basic business fundamental fact and something which he failed to ensure was being done properly. Shocking lack of oversight at best and overt complicity at worst - here's to hoping he can see the light and make appropriate changes. If not, then it's time for Cuban to be forcibly removed.

I don't see how people can blame Cuban here
the article pretty clearly states that none of the female employees ever contacted Cuban about that matter.
only one female employee believes that he must have known about it, a gut feeling. no evidence tho.
a former Mavs employee once said they had a direct line to Cuban via a unique mail-adress for exactly those kind of matters.
no one of those female employees ever used that one.
think about it, even fans can contact Cuban. they can talk to him via his blog, twitter and he participated (for a lengthy time) in chats on one of their message boards too.
I dunno man, feels like a strange story. if you feel wronged, you talk to the boss of the culprit... especially if that boss is so easily reachable.
that doesnt excuse the behaviour of that Ussery guy nor does it excuse the overall work environment. it does makes me wonder tho, why this article talks bad about a culture, that clearly isn't there anymore (all involved persons were fired/let go, starting in 2015).

Dallas-Fort Worth area is actually the 5th biggest TV market. Seattle is 14th.
Either way, Mavs aren't moving anywhere even if Cubes is forced to sell.
if anyone is getting moved, it's the Grizzlies or Pelicans.

This isn’t some vast organization like Amazon.
The Mavs non-gameday permanent personnel probably number in the dozens. For a guy as sharp, down to earth, intuitive and plugged into the organization as Cuban, you’d be hard pressed to convince me he had “no idea” what was going on when apparently a lot of messed up stuff was going on. It doesn’t pass the smell test at all. Cuban is nobodies fool. He is like the last person who should be allowed to play dumb.

No relocation. Expansion only, please. I know people hate the idea of adding more teams. But, I don't see teams moving. The league can make a **** ton of money instead off expansion fees.

Ignorance to reality is no excuse. He has responsibility as a business owner to oversee company culture or hire someone who can.

If anything the league needs to downsize. There isn’t enough talent to go around as is.

Disagree. Relocation first. Markets are not being maximized currently and franchises like the Pelicans and Grizzlies are treading water as is.

If the head of HR and CEO are most at fault for this **** culture of harassment, I can see how Cuban wouldn't know. From the business side of things, I can see how he'd only be talking with a few execs.

It may not be Amazon, but an NBA franchise isn't a mom and pops shop. Again, the VP and head of HR were either dismissive or complicit about these women's complaints. Those are the people who would inform Cuban about this sort of thing.
Cuban should still take some blame because he hired these people. But this notion that he would know about all of this because he is a hands on owner is silly IMO. A big reason why harassment goes unchecked in many organizations is because people in mid-management keep this stuff hidden from the higher ups.

thats not true in Cubans case... he is open to any private talk and makes it clear to his employees to skip the usual command structure to go straight to him. yet, the victim(s) of harrassment never make use of that direct line, instead they assumed he knows whats up while the guy who is supposed to inform Cuban, from a command-structure-point-of view, is actually the perpetrator.
so I ask you again, how is Cuban to blame here?
