Well they let us play 1 more quarter. Compared to the knicks game where they probably shooed everyone out right away

Nice showing for the first game I can see why our team was picked as one of the favorites to win the league. Mo's shot looked good and did some nice things on offense. McCree really stood out of the other guys.

Well, good stuff from Mo. His shot looks very nice. I still wish he'd start hitting those screens harder, and I'd like to see some more activity on the boards. He had a lot of bad passes thrown at him tonight as well. All and all, a good return to the court.

Not sure that Bamba’s p&r defense isn’t by design as it’s EXACTLY what Vuc does. I understand not getting too close but he needs to close the distance up a bit.

Like what i saw from mo. But hope he gets stronger by the time reg season comes. A couple of rebounds he lost because of being weak.

very possible it's by design, but still pretty clear SA figured out they could switch Walker onto Bamba on offense and get free points. My worry is that if he doesn't improve his effort even a little bit, teams could abuse this pretty easy.

With bamba it's clearly an effort thing. He doesnt go full force at all time. If you re watch that game eubanks had 3 great timed blocks that all had to do with effort and iq to watch and contest the shoot at the rim. Bamba struggles so much with that.

There is definitely an effort issue but that p&r defense is most likely by design plus poor defensive instincts. He has his hands down way too often.

If Bamba learns how to use those long arms to make it difficult for guards to shoot over him he'd be alright. His offense is on point though.

Good first half on offense... he was noticeably putting in effort to get ahead of the play. Hope to see that in reg season... need that kind of stuff from the bench bigs. Fell apart a bit in the 2nd half. Jumper on point tonight. Looked out of it on defense.

The drop coverage is certainly by design.

Although the case could be made that Bamba shouldn't be forced to run the only pick and roll coverage Vucevic runs because he's a much more mobile player and should (in theory) be able to do more with traps, hedges and icing pick and rolls.

My guess is, for simplicity sake, Clifford and his coaching staff are just going to have all their centers execute the same pick and roll coverage so the other four guys won't have to master multiple defensive schemes based on which big is in the game.

Vucevic gets beat because he's too slow footed to get into optimal positions a lot of the time combined with a lack of leaping ability and a desire to avoid fouls because he needs to stay on the floor due to his offensive workload.

Bamba gets beat because he doesn't know how much depth he's supposed to get on the drop which routinely puts him out of position and then far too often he simply doesn't contest at all.

It's a noticeable mixture of poor awareness and poor effort.

Knightro wrote:I just don't think it's a conditioning issue for Bamba because when he knows he's about to touch the basketball on offense, his energy level noticeably picks up

I think he's just a low energy low instincts player on defense.

It’s not. I think it’s just a clear lack of intensity/effort on that end and is just a result of his low defensive IQ.

Luckily for us though, I think Clifford may be just the right coach to get the most out of him defensively someday. Atleast in those areas. This is one of the main reasons why he isn’t ready for NBA starter minutes though. It’s also why I still laugh at the idea of a Bamba/Vuc pairing. Just not sure why people would think that Bamba can guard 4’s at this stage or ever. There’s a reason that pairing was -100+ in the limited minutes they played last year.

Offensively, he looked good. Great to see the noticeable size he put on this summer. That will help him offensively and defensively this year but obviously the effort will have to be there on the defensive side if he wants to make a real impact in the minutes he gets.

fall asleep while waiting.
I can only say that by quality, this is worst SL has ever been.
Saw some of Dallas- Nets game, Jarrett Allen looked like prime Hakeem. 19 points, 8 rebounds 3 blocks, 3 assists.

Game didn't last 4 quaters ,right? lol

Lonnie Walker is type of guy you should take late in fantasy , his rookie year was cut short, but he is still 20 and yes SL sucks, but he after 1 game looked like he does not belong there.

btw if Bagley won't play in SL, it will mean Knox and Bamba are only lottery picks from 2018 in SL 2019

Bamba scored a point for each minute played !

And some dude named Erik McCree had a break out game for Orlando.

You mean by raising his arms up? His issue is a lack desire, effort and IQ.

He was guarded by Drew Eubanks who was undrafted in 2017...

They've been abusing other members of the Magic for years.
