Nate McMillan wrote:(on Jamal Crawford) One of the worst point guards I've ever coached.

When was this? I can’t find any link to it.

Here is a story that is related to that comment:

https://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/2016/04/clippers_jamal_crawford_has_moved_on_from_forgetta.html

In a nutshell, Portland played in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season and the team never meshed. Nate McMillian tried to make Jamal Crawford a point guard and McMillian got fired as the team struggled with a 20-23 after starting 7-2.

The fact that McMillian tried to make Crawford (who is a shooting guard with good one-on-one ballhandling skills) a point guard should give enough credence why McMillian should have been fired. Then came speculation Crawford and starting point guard Raymond Felton engineered the dismissal of McMillan, a charge that Crawford denies even now.

Crawford did have his uses though in his prime. Few players could beat his own man better and you need players like that- they can’t all be spot up shooters. He was worth his spot in a rotation even with his considerable weaknesses. He is the rare case of a player who would have been better if he were less confident

Lol casuals love to tell us what’s a bad shot,

Crawford is a shot creator a guy you need on any team. If you need people to hit open shots he’s not your guy..he’s the one who can create something when your other players are trapped or there’s nothing going on.
