People weren't as up in arms over it simply because there was time left, and Houston was up double digits. This Gobert goaltend would have tied a game with mere seconds left. There was enough time for the Jazz to get a good look to ice the game, but it's no guarantee they make it. Seems to me like it was a combination of the refs just wanting to end a chippy game, and Ariza going at one of them earlier just made the decision to turn a blind eye easier for them. The stakes were a lot higher here especially for an injured team fighting for the last spot in the playoffs. Feels like Houston fans ITT are just displaying their victim complex over Harden.

Stakes are high for the Rockets too. One game could totally change their playoff seeding. I know both situations are bad, but the outcry of “poor Blazers, poor Lillard, what an outrage“...is what’s annoying. Even Woj was tweeting about it. The attitude was that cause the Rockets are the Rockets they should just suck it up and real w/ losing 2 points - when the game ended in a tie and an OT loss - so obviously those two points mattered.

There was a team Twitter that beat the Rockets shortly after that happened (or maybe it was after their protest w/ the league was denied) that tweeted “protest that” and everyone was laughing - I think it might have actually been the Blazers. Edit - it was the Kings. Still people were laughing like it’s funny for the Rockets to get screwed, but cause it’s the league’s lovable Golden Boy and his underperforming team everyone feels bad.

If non-Houston fans laugh when Houston gets screwed it’s only because Houston Rockets basketball is so damned awful to watch.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Just shows you the game moves too fast for the refs. Can't call it straight in important moments.

At least in that play, Oubre didn't actually get the ball, SGA had taken it away already before the players stopped playing due to the whistle, but they still got the call wrong, yea.

If they didnt replay the Rockets game when Harden made the basket that wasnt recognized, they're not replaying this. Has the league ever replayed a game? I dont know what the purpose of complaining does.

The NBA today granted a game protest filed by the Miami Heat after its 117-111 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on December 19 at Philips Arena, which will result in the replay of the final 51.9 seconds of the game's overtime period with the Hawks leading 114-111. The replay will occur immediately prior to the next scheduled game between the two teams -- on March 8, 2008, also at Philips Arena.

Nice! Let's do this then.

I'd LOVE for that to happen...Blazers play Utah next on 4/2, 6 games from the end of the season. That could be huge. That mini game would get MASSIVE ratings...

Will never happen, though.

In a past explanation, the league indicated that they don't replay games based on missed calls, but consider replays for incorrectly enforced calls.

Vegas did not want that OT as Jazz might cover so they finished it right there and then.

(At some point there should be a thread where a single call changed/influenced the outcome/spread result of that game)
