OT: Harden to Nets

Who’s team is it on the Nets now? I thought KD really wanted to be the man? Still a scary team if they are all healthy. Too many ways you can get killed on offense and the depth can be mitigated by signing some stable old vets and staggering the lineups of the big 3. All 3 are more than capable of being out with a second unit and still being scary.. and good luck on cheating on anyone if all 3 are in the floor. Theoretically they can tire AD and Lebron out in a series. Assume you make AD guard Durant you absolutely demolish any inside presence, so Lebron or Kuzma has to stick him and AD is going to be running around on help with Irving and Harden like mad. If things are rolling well that solves all ills but they will implode personality wise if things don’t go well.

I think it's still KD's team but if one of those guys has a huge advantage, they can take the last shot.

The Lakers are the interesting matchup because you can't play DJ down the stretch and they have no other real big but LAL has a mix of AD, Kuz, Harrell, Gasol.

They need another guy who can play 4-5 and shoot.

And that was kind of a weird trade for a GM to make. Dudes not gonna be there for half those picks in all likely hood. Self preservation would have been to take Simmons (the proven young star) and less long term assets.

I think that was an old rumor. From what I read they were picking between the Nets and 76ers offer of Simmons, Maxy and a pick or two.

I had heard they offered Simmons and Thybulle but wouldn't include Maxey. Not sure on picks. You really have to be a fan of the long game to take the Nets offer over that IMO, because Simmons is a young star level player despite whatever warts you think he has. Maybe that Nets trade has more upside in three years if the Nets fall apart (completely plausible), but if they hold it together for four years, your value is really poor, and they'll never have incentive to trade out and start over, so they'll always be trying even if trying looks like 1st round exits.

Agreed, that was the point of my original post. Simmons is a young 2 way star and Thybulle is a young and cheap wing. I think they'll eventually hit on a good pick or two in the nets deal. But it won't be the GM that made the deal. I can't see the Rockets GM lasting that long. Might as well taken the bird in hand and tried to build around Simmons, Thybulle and Wood.

not taking the simmons offer was a massive mistake for the rockets ...only a complete idiot turns down a young star when your in the situation harden put them in

He looked pretty good there last night. More engaged than I've seen him in a while. He's like "We didn't even practice, so not too bad" and them mentioned getting their PG back.

but even more scary is Durant looks HAPPY. Like I' can;t say I've seen him smile in years - but last night after the game he was beaming and bouncing around.

I really don;t like those guys and want to see it blow up - but they won't because they have Nash.
I can cheer for him to win a title and enjoy the accolades.

I love his interview during the game, they ask him about having these guys, what he thinks-

Maybe its just me but I dont like this deal for the Nets.

They barely saw what they have with KD and Kyrie. Now they add Harden.

On top of that now they have zero depth. This could be last years Sixers all over again.

Mate, it’s not just you. Adding Harden to Kyrie is like saying “sure I already have cancer, shoot me up with AIDS as well”. They’re setting themselves up to be one of the most dysfunctional teams in recent memory, and have given away almost all of their remotely good depth pieces and FOUR first round picks so they can’t replace them anytime soon. To me, this is a dumpster fire waiting to happen.

I think you guys need to realize that basketball is a ball game and not, I dunno, happenings in gossip tabloids. Saying stupid stuff to the Jedi or going to the club a bunch doesn’t really make a difference. I would just ignore that stuff.

No I’m not joking. It’s got nothing to do with “gossip tabloids” but rather common sense. The NBA is not a 2K game where you just need to add as much talent as possible. If the team that accumulated the most talent won the ring every year, the NBA wouldn’t be much fun to watch. The FACT is that things such as team chemistry and roster fit are very important factors, and to act like the ONLY thing that matters to winning is talent is incredibly naive.
