Blake Griffin to sit out - anyone interested?

I don't see it. Blake has virtually no on-court value at this point, and the Pistons shouldn't take on more money or give up assets to move him.

Buyout is much more likely.

Nobody knows, but I suspect he gives up maybe half of next year. He's obviously not going to get another big NBA contract, but he's enough of a "name" that if he moves to a bigger market/contender, he could make a chunk of that back in advertising. His brand is going to rot if he just sits around for 2 years.

I’m not sure how much his brand is going to benefit from being a 15-20 mpg bench guy on a contender though. I doubt enough to give up $15 million plus owed.

Griffin isn't getting another big deal or any advertising money at this point. He is a vet minimum bench guy from here on out. It is extremely unlikely he gives up more than 1M.

Detroit should be looking to get an asset or two to eat Westbrook if they're not going to pay to get him off the books next year.
