Spurs is definitely a very high standard and ethical organization, I know this from common knowledge, and from Lithuanian Darius Songaila interviews that most of you might not have heard. I think you are right that Spurs would have just showed you the door for this, even if you were Haliburton.
If this is true, obviously consequences must be dialed, and I support decision to waive him at the end, I feel like i expressed myself wrong, I was more surprised by the level of consequence not that I flat out disagree with it. Still tho, I do think its forgivable crime if its dealt with. Just by law, what is the punishment in America for dudes who do this? I feel it is not that big of a legal punishment, career wise it is brutal, but so is saying same words or opinions that isn't technically a crime to begin with, you know what I mean. Techniclaly it is sexual assault and it sounds terrible, but former NBA guys did far worse things and only nowadays players started to get seriously punsihed for it. Kobe was in court for rape charges and played for the Lakers the same day...
Sure thing, thanks for explaining. I don't live in the US, and also don't know whether this is a federal offense or whether different states have different levels of severity of punishment for it.
We already know of at least two allegations, presumably in two different states, so that can complicate matters, as does the fact that Primo exposed himself to a former Spurs staffer. We also don't know the extent of it, both in terms of how many women, how long, and how grossly he went about it.
My sense is that because both the Spurs and the league had the resolute reaction they did with his merchandise, that this is being handled decisively for a reason.
Again, it is true that in past eras players got far lesser punishments for crimes society punishes more harshly. And part of it is also that some players and celebrities are in a stratosphere that makes it harder to hold them accountable.
It's already worse than what I had a gut feeling about when I read Primo's response to being waived and knowing even what we do I'm glad Spurs waived him but we have to wait for more details.
