Unless they traded him somewhere else. Like the Celtics.. more teams than just us

They can still tank this year. Jakob is about the few years after this year. Just buying time for Koloko's development.

Does it make sense to you that they can be a bottom-6 team only for this year, but magically turn things around next year and win 50 games? Because that's the only scenario where this trade works out.

We were ~50 wins last season and magically turned things around to suck ass this year. Maybe we can go the other way next season.

I don't think they're as good as 50 wins and not as bad as a bottom-6 team. That's not where you want to be as a team where you're paying an aging core $100M+.

How can we sign him in the off-season if he wants 20M and we have no cap space

we pay the tax man.

again, we can always resign him and trade him next year. trade ballast guy as well. and he's a playable guy it seems

Maybe Yak coming back will spark up that chemistry that the team sorely needs. It feels like the team was on the verge of imploding for the past few months

Then mandem complains we are going all in on a slow white centre instead of tanking harder for Jarace Walker  Funny enough the same morons saying we don't need a slow white center bust their juice over Walker Kessler.

Spurs aren't getting a lottery pick from us. Masai isn't desperate like BC was between 2013-2014 to sneak into the playoffs. If we suck he would make sure the pick falls within that 1-6 range.

It's an illusion we suckered them into thinking they can potentially get a lottery pick. While the Nets are a newfound lottery team and the Heat are trading away a core player. We're finishing in the top 6 or a HC playin team.

Its a good deal in a vacuum. A starting center for a guy that wasn't playing and protected picks is good.

I'm just not convinced it's good for the team in terms of where they are right now.

I mean if they're a top 6 team this season, you can safely say that the rest is up to the core to figure it out. If Achiuwa, Barnes, Trent, and the other young pieces grow together with the older core we should be a contender in the next 3 years if not sooner.

Pretty sure their FO knows that. The potential of a lottery pick is just something they can use to appease their fanbase atm.

Absolutely, that would be brutal. But the pick could also be something like #20, which would be fair value for Poeltl. So we'll have to see how this plays out. There was no "incomplete" option in the poll, but that's what I'd choose if there were.

Even at that position, the pick has less than 6% chance.

I hope you mean top 6 in the East. But in either case, they're a bit of a distance away from being top 6 this season. Lets see if they have any other moves up their sleeve.
