Of the top 100 or so players in NBA history, he’s probably top 20 in terms of natural gifts and talent but around 99th in terms of maturity, leadership, and composure

Might even go as high as top 10 but can't argue with the rest honestly

Fringe top 10 center all time if healthy.
Still would be a mental midget with low bball iq, no passing ability and bad stamina whose game does not translate into playoffs.
Now he would just be the Harden of Centers instead of the Harden of Centers with no durability.

People underestimate how insane your resume has to be to have a GOAT level ranking.
He’s had healthy playoff runs and he’s disappointed.

He had one healthy playoff run, with the corpse of Al Horford who acted like a spy for the Celtics, Josh Richardson, and no Ben Simmons during the bubble.

In this scenario of him being the goat and him being injury free, does Al Horford exist?

In all honesty: Embiid being healthy does automatically lead to 3-4 championship runs?
Even with him being 100% healthy: there is more evidence that is playing style, leadership, mentality etc. would simply not be enough to even sniff the GOAT debate.
Top-15 level talent? Yes, I think so. But to even reach that he'd need 1-2 championships.

Re: NY Times: Joel Embiid thinks he could have been the GOAT if it weren't for injuries.
Answer is simple hell no.
If he didn't had any injury he wouldn't even be best center of his generation.
At this point injuries are more of excuse for him than main limiting factor.
He has many problems besides health. His mental strength, stamina and iq are not on level of best of all times, his leadership is bottom of the barrel.
People who look at his stats and say they are one of best of all time should also take in consideration number of games played and load management which help greatly with average stats. You are comparing him to players who used to play around 80 games and also dominate in play off which he never had and his numbers would dwindle if he did play that number of games without rest.
He is always taking easy path and is afraid of difficult moments that is why he fold when PO come and has chosen USA team for easy path to gold in Olympics

Re: NY Times: Joel Embiid thinks he could have been the GOAT if it weren't for injuries.
Best to ever do it? No. In the same category as Shaq, Wilt, Russel, Duncan? Sure, he had the physical talent. Today's Embiid and Kansas Embiid look so different it's kind of startling. It's impossible to know the impact the injuries have had on him. I think Coaching has played a part in it as well.
It's also kind of a worthless conversation. Bill Walton could have been the GOAT, but he was injured, so he wasn't.

The guy continually mouths off and embarrases himself for no reason. What a great teammate.

“Do you have any doubt about who’s going to win the gold medal? Joel Embiid: I mean, you look at the talent that the US has, but I mean, there’s also equal time on other teams. And the talent that’s on the US team, you also got to understand that most of those guys are also older. LeBron now is not the LeBron that was a couple of years ago. So it’s a big difference. So the name might be there, but everybody would also tell you, and you can see for yourself, the athletic LeBron and the dominant that he was a couple of years ago is not the same that he is now. So, yeah, I mean, I think people get fooled by the names on their own paper, but, yeah, those names have been built throughout their career and now they’re older, so they’re not what they used to be.” – via Apple Podcasts

Hes as fragile mentally in big moments as he is physically fragile in general.
Cant be the GOAT when you're a shook one.

Dude takes zero accountability for anything. Yes, LeBron is old and not the same guy. But you (along with Tatum, Booker, AD etc.) are still young and in your primes. You should be the ones carrying the torch and leading the charge. So stop pushing responsibilities for leading/winning on 40 year old LeBron.
This guys just isn't a winning player.

What are the most memorable moments of Embiids career? The things that stand out to me are the post game interviews, injuries, and poor performances in big games. Like of his top 20 most memorable pro moments there’s probably 2 that involve good post season play
The rest are Jan games against 25 win teams or playoff stinkers

That's nonsense, of course, but he said in that same interview is thread-worthy:
So this clown would've played for Cameroon if they qualified for the Olympics, but because they didn't, he chose the US???
I can't believe the levels of ridiculousness coming from his mouth.
But one thing that was always known was that Cameroon is the first choice, and if they qualify I’m playing for my home country.
