I would only get this trade if Holiday was an expiring contract and Portland was 1-2 years further in their rebuild. Seems like Boston won a 2nd trade with Portland

Remember when everyone was telling Celtics fans we’d have to pay up to get out of the Holiday deal?

LOL.

Don’t doubt Brad’s ability to make things happen.

Don’t even like Simons that much but he’s an expiring deal we can gamble on while Tatum recovers.

I don't think the on-court difference is what makes this a winning trade for Boston, think Simons has a lot of exploitable deficiencies and his offense while good isn't always going to offset that.. but getting off the contract and getting picks back.

Ahaha can’t get rid of Scoot, they are now paying his “mentor” 32 million a season

Ayton is expiring.

This thread proves one thing, no one here knows the Blazers salary books well.

is Ayton, a guy not in their future plans, not currently making $35 million which is acting as an achor on their salary cap? Enlighten us plebs the intricacies of the salary books (as you call it) so we understand.

Very weird trade. Does BOS plan on starting White/Simons/Brown/Horford together? I mean, I assume they plan on dumping Porzingis now to actually get out of the 2nd apron?

As for POR, they must see this as an upgrade and want to try and make the playoffs? Is Jrue going to mentor Scoot?

Didn't save enough money and questionable upgrade. Very weird trade. Almost feels incomplete.

Jrue could be a valuable piece for a team like Denver or Minnesota that's maybe one player away from contending for a title next year. Portland had the 3rd worst SRS in the West this year and Jerami Grant at 30 was their only player over 27 years old. They should be looking toward the future, not trying to grab a declining vet in his 17th season. It makes absolutely no sense for Portland in particular.

Denver would have to trade away MPJ or Murray to match salaries. That would make me extremely sad. Holiday is on clear decline.

I would trade MPJ for Jrue in a heartbeat if I was Denver tbh

People won't shut up about MPJ's contract, but he's 26 years old. Holiday is going to be paid 37 million dollars as a 37 year old, four years from now, and the decline has already started.

If bringing in a veteran PG worked for Houston it can work for Portland....right?

As a Magic fan.. Simons was one of long time targets for a trade so we know and researched about him. From being an Orlando native to his offrnsive arsenal we need....etc etc

One thing we always argued about in our board about him is he is a traffic cone on defense. We know traffic cone becausr we have Moe and Cole with us. Those 2 look like part of Pistons 2004 team compared to Simons.

But hey.. Simons can shoot. And he reduces salary.

I don't know why some individuals keep saying this but Jrue is not washed. He was dealing with an injury most of last season. When healthy again, he is a difference maker in the playoffs.

Holiday can play with either of the young guards and should have a + developmental impact.

Simons is not a playoff caliber guard. He has never made a team better. Empty calories.

Doesn’t justify the size of/ length of taking the Holiday deal without at least pick 28 but the on court impact of Holiday vs Simons isn’t close.

Simons is a Marcus Thornton level guy.
