Ja Morant is 26 and frequently gets injured because he tries dunking on someone and ends up hurting himself. Unless he really changes his game to rely more on shooting and less on just using his athleticism to score I would pass on him.

If he does nothing to improve his game I think he really only has 3 maaybe 4 years more where he can play at his current level before he just drops off once he starts to lose his speed and vertical.

There’s one star on the Grizzlies that I want and it’s not Ja Morant.

Any idea of what the value return they expect in a trade for him? Could it even be something we could afford. The Morant discussion becomes possible because of the internal turmoil between him and the front office leadership.

His being disgruntled helps reduce the implied cost if both parties are considering moving in a different direction. But the Bulls are currently 6-1 ( an 85% winning percentage rate) and is there any indication of Giddey being disgruntled or their leadership considering going in a different direction and moving him?

I don't know that he'd be any better than J Green next to Booker. And we don't really have the assets to get him obviously. I also wouldn't give up any of our young core with the exception of maybe Ighodaro as an inclusive trade piece.

I also wouldn't want to give up Mark Williams, but perhaps a 3 team trade with J Green, Richards and some combination of O'neale, Allen or Ighodaro included. And one team gets those players and we get a #2 threat back to play alongside of Booker as a number 2 offensive option.

Extremely talented player but dudes got some mental red flags. I have no interest in him. I feel like we've already been stung by big name gambles in KD and Beal, I don't really want to get on that ride again for a while

The General Board seems to think that Green + Richards is a realistic offer for him, although for me it seems unrealisticly low.

I'm kind of torn, on the one hand I agree with Weefishi's concern, on the other hand our front office's strategy seems to be to try to buy low on potentially high upside guys - Mark Williams, Kuminga, Jalen Green... Ja would fit that description.

The math works, though we'd have to turn some other players into bonafide contracts as we'd only have 10 if we traded away Green and Richards. And while I'm not a huge Morant fan, he does actually play PG and is capable enough. I've seen what Green can do and I'm not sold on him being the primary table setter. Since Ishbia likes to throw crap to the wall and see what sticks, I wouldn't be too surprised to find out he's made a call to check on availability. Should MEM want picks included, we're hosed.

I've responded to KDD23 before but Giddey was always a pipe dream because Chicago was never going to let him go, they just wanted to sweat him in the offseason so they could get a more favourable deal for the team and they got a steal even before he's having the season he's having. He was asking for like $30m per and they got him a flat $25m a year deal in an era where guys like Claxton, KCP, Collins and DeAndre Hunter are getting paid that kind of money now and he's easily more valuable than them. And now that he is having the season he's having (career highs across all the major categories), there's every chance he's damn close to being untouchable

As for Ja, I think the asking price will probably be the early asking price for KD imo. Something like either an established semi-star tier player (like Jimmy) or a couple of young guys with potential like Jabari Smith/Eason/Sheppard and some draft capital. Given the relatively young age of the Grizzlies, I'd expect they lean going a younger but still able to compete and elevate JJJr rather than going down the old star route.

Yeah I was comparing his stats the other day. Oso has regressed from 3rd, 2nd stringer at best, to G leaguer based on preseason and RS games so far. I'd put him behind all 3 Cs in the rotation and as we saw vs Spurs even Royce could do better as C in certain matchups.

Oso being used a lot getting a lot of touches and opportunities to facilitate hurts my brain...

He is a 3rd stringer at best yet getting heaps of touches. Even more than Ayton ever got. Ott being creative, kudos to him, but Oso is not the guy. They need Mark Williams or someone with fascinating skills to do what Oso is trying to do.
