maybe he just doesnt want to make any trades until he see how the SIM actually works..? tbh other than maybe 5 or 6 teams not many of us have made deals this summer. (at least major ones) We are at an interesting point given some of us now have rookie deals and others of us are waiting for the year 5 reset.

I think we're all waiting for FA and the draft to shake out. So much hinges on those, just like IRL.

Imo, activity levels only seem low because of the crazy layoff due to COVID. We had a ton of trades in May. What more can you really do before free agency and the draft? I know my spectrum of moves is VERY limited before free agency.

I love to cook, but steak is one thing I haven’t mastered. I guess with a bunch of kids you just don’t have the time or budget to splurge on a good steak and do it right.

I do make a great burger. Made a batch of jalapeño relish from peppers that I grew last weekend.

I mean this is no disrespect to Smash, Hoffa and everyone else from another board, but I'm amazed we were never able to get 30 lunatics on this board that would go balls to the wall with this. Considering the work Bish has put in over the years, how long we've kept this going, I'd figure a ton of posters would be dying to be in this. If we go nuts over a random rumor, workout video or press conference, it always amazed me this wasn't even more active especially during slow times.

Yeah I have to say a few months in I’m a little disappointed it’s not a bit more active. I was expecting there to be more active GM’s and more movement. I feel like it’s a relatively small group of really active GM’s which leads a bit to stagnancy at times. Had I known it was like this I maybe would have held back a deal or two I did. I’m still having fun with it don’t get me wrong just a little disappointing in that regard.

You did come in at a relatively "down" time of the offseason. When the draft arrives and FA arrives it will pick back up again. When we started the offseason there were a flurry of moves. Now teams have kinda settled there position until the draft or FA for the most part. For example I was super active but I got to the point I ended up buying out some bad contracts to remove those salaries for future years and extension possibilities so I am kinda up against the cap with all my draft picks even though I have over $300 in space.

Even the discussion thread has been down a bit because we don't have much to talk about. The real NBA is winding down and our season is about to pick up for season 4. Once the draft comes and FA comes the community will pick up with moves and discussion of those moves. Sh*t talking is one of the best part of this

I’m new to this so I’m sure you are right. I didn’t follow closely from afar prior to taking the Miami GM slot. In my head though I thought that the offseason would be busier but I can see how the draft and free agency would wake things up sorta speak.

Having the draft before the IRL draft is great. BAF draft is better than any real life NBA content.

I think given that our draft is so many weeks before the real one it would of been interesting to have longer time slots between picks to see if that would of enticed GMs to make more trades if certain players fell

The Storyline behind the Conley trade, and how Warriors lost Sexton for nothing

-It was a beautiful Summer day. The Warriors got a decent return for Westbrook. Headlined by a great young piece in Sexton, and a replacement at the position in Conley. Warriors planned to trade Conley for cap relief, but knew this would be difficult considering he was making $265, but GM NewEra trusted his work ethic to get it done.

-Warriors reached out multiple GMs about Conley. The Washington Wizards were one of those teams, but for weeks they never responded to NewEra. After losing hope , GM NewEra decided to move in a "NewDirection" lol, and traded for All-Star Jimmy Butler. A player of Butler's caliber required Warriors to give up Sexton who they really loved, but they were also getting rid of Saric's $125, so they pulled the trigger.

The Trade:

- The Orlando Magic have agreed to trade Jimmy Butler and Ivica Zubac to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Mike Conley, Dario Saric, Collin Sexton, Ersan Ilyasova, a 2022 2nd round draft pick (From Chicago) and a 2022 2nd round draft pick (From Dallas).

-NINE days after trading Conley, NewEra received an email from Wizards GM in response to a Conley offer The email simply read, "INTERESTED"...NewEra felt immediate regret, and excitement at the same time, but mostly regret knowing he could have possibly traded Conley without giving up Sexton Having the balls to do it, and knowing he'd be the subject of jokes, NewEra then made attempts to undo the Butler trade . The response "INTERESTED" was all he needed. However, he would not get Sexton back AND would have to re-acquire Saric - whom he didn't want But he knew the CAP SPACE $$$$$$$ would eventually be worth it all, as he was never really all that excited about paying Butler $420.

The Re-Trade:

8/14- The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Jimmy Butler and Kevin Knox to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Mike Conley, Dario Saric, Willie Cauley-Stein, a 2022 2nd round draft pick (From Chicago) and a 2022 2nd round draft pick (From Dallas).

-Four days later, NewEra and Robin closed the deal which gave him the cap space he desperately wanted to attain.

The Trade

The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Mike Conley $265 to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Isaac Bonga $9 and Kyle Guy $8

This caused a riot but NewEra still feels the loss of a cheap Collin Sexton whom he could have extended. NewEra was left with the job of trying to free up more cap after all of this, and get rid of some unwanted contracts. He has managed to do so, and is now in a great position going into free agency.

Lesson learned: When Robin says "INTERESTED" hang in there! Don't grow weary or impatient. He's likely busy, and will respond in a few weeks Nah but seriously that Braz deal that went up in flames really did me in lol. I'm a better GM now because of it though.

Yeah I mean leading up to the first official trade day, there was a few blockbusters locked and loaded. I'd expect it to be slower now due to covid, teams made their trades and only looking to do minor tinkering. The draft I'd suspect to be a little boring just because of the pick layout, but we might see some sign and trades, semi big names change teams this offseason. Once the ratings come out, all hell breaks loose and then the season starts.
