See.. we have a great country. The land itself is awe inspiring and beautiful. We have a country full of strong, smart, compassionate people. It's just that smart, strong, compassionate people don't look to get into politics. It's a dirty business. Politics attract all the power hungry cluster B personality types. That's why our government is fuxed. It's just too bad it's too late for anarchy.

Love this twitter quote about Texas LT. Gov's final solution to the crisis - "Hello it’s me a principled conservative and I am here to say why wait for grandma and grandpa to die in the pandemic when we can start hunting them for sport today" - thanks to M.A. for that one.

Some of the comments in the Twitter thread are spot on, particularly about how these people are pro-life for fetuses, but now they're ready to purge their grandparents so they can get back to making moneeeeeeeeee

That's because the "expire by" date on those fetuses is well past due!!!!!

My understanding is that Florida is huge in chumming up to the corporations in that state. Big ups to this commissioner that's fighting for his people's lives.

Re: OT: The official Coronavirus fear mongering thread
I've been reading this board for years but never joined until now. Like a lot of posters on here who tell it like it is.
I remember telling a friend prior to the 2016 elections that the United States might elect an individual who was mentally ill as president. Some might say your not a psychologist how would you know, I say I'm not a mechanic but I know when an engine sounds like it's broken. It's an amazing thing to watch a press conference given by the administration about an incredibly serious and deadly pandemic and see the President of the United States tell his lies, bull ****, go after his enemies, basically use it as one of his rallies.
Seeing Trump talk about the possibility of giving a back to work order or returning to normal life is delusional. They're finding traces of new coronavirus on surfaces in cruise ship cabins for as many as 17 days after passengers have left. It's obvious that this virus is nearly impossible to contain, the only chance is social distancing/quarantine. The U.K. found this out the hard way. There's no easy solution here, the economy is going to take a **** kicking but you have to get this virus under control. I'm beginning to think that the only thing that can save the situation is for the science community to find a vaccine. Otherwise, you have a health or an economic catastrophe, either way there's going to be a lot of pain.
Science needs to come to the rescue here.

Welcome aboard
Spoiler:
We've been dealing with an anti-science GOP that denies climate change and fought stem cell research for years and now we have to deal with the Trump idiocracy.
The way this is being bungled probably does mean we need a vaccine to restore normalcy.

I don't know too much about this and it's hard to know the facts for sure, it comes down to what you choose to believe or not but according to some there is a really good chance that this was created by science. Some are saying it's a biological weapon

Great video. Her political career is probably over as that is viral now.
Mark my words, Florida will go down in history as the state that made everything worse, not just for its own citizens, but for the whole country that has to absorb the influx of infected Spring Breakers now washing up on their doorsteps.
I braved Walmart last night at closing time wearing my gloves and carrying gel to get dairy items. I only bought half and half, yogurt and ice cream. I didn't use a cart, just a shoulder bag. I lubed the surface of each container with sanitizer before putting them in my bag. I scanned them and returned them to the bag and that's all I touched the whole time. In and out as quickly as possible. If someone came towards me in the aisle I just turned around and went down an empty aisle.
There were stockers beginning their overnight shifts, but the shelves were lightly stocked. Toilet paper and paper towels were gone. Plenty of fresh produce. About 10% of the ice cream. Not even stocking frozen veggies now. Meats were at about 30%. Cans of Tuna, peanut butter, all gone. The self check-out stations were full.
There was a dumbass cracker running around the store chanting Corona, Corona! There were other idiots mingling within two feet of each other by the entrance with no awareness of distancing. It was so discouraging I vowed to only go there again at 7 a.m. when they open on their new hours (normally 24 hour store).

I have a feeling, due to the lax way our presidumb is acting and articulating that racism and more infections will get way worse before they get better. So sad to say and witness. I hope everyone either is or gets healthy and we pull through this together! The knicks needs us lol

My Dude, take good care, cause many in the you-know-who corner will follow his, ..Wall Street (big Business) is more important than the pandemic, elderly and regular Joe.
My other advise is that it's a good time to go vegetarian as much as possible. The meat industry is going to bypass safety regulations more now than ever, as inspectors are going to be non-existant. This may cause meat caused illnesses to soar and no room in the hospitals to help out.
Save the refrigerator and freezer space and store vegetables instead. Save the money and buy oatmeal, lots of beans, garlic etc. Your trips to Walmart will be less.

Thanks for the advice. I prepped a month ago. I do have ham, chicken, sausage in the freezer, but I won't be buying any more in the near future. When I work through that I'll go through my rice and noodles and make lots of bean dishes from scratch. In effect, I'll be going vegetarian by default once I work through my animal products. After I work through my frozen veggies in a month or two, I'll restock those and even go pick up fresh veggies and dip them in a bleach solution and rinse before I cook them just to maintain protocols as I expect we'll remain vulnerable until a vaccine is produced.
This is the year I learned how versatile a microwave is. I had no idea how good scrambled eggs are microwaved. They are like souffles.
And I always thought frozen veggies were less valuable because maybe they lacked life force, but I've become a big fan of frozen chopped kale, spinach, lima beans and they are very easy to incorporate into your oats, rice, noodles. With some beans and fermented foods on the side, you can make a very tasty bowl that is filling.

Do you get frozen food delivered? Been thinking about doing that cause most frozen food is cleaned out in groceries

I do not as I stocked up a month ago.
I'd look at FreshDirect.com
You'll pay 2-3X what you would at the store, but for $100 you could still fill your freezer with frozen greens and beans

India has imposed a nationwide 21 day lockdown
If you've been there you know public sanitation is nightmarish and the spread of disease is more likely so they are making the right call
Lots of poor people though so not sure if they will go hungry

I'm not a medical professional but I'd recommend reducing your refined sugar intake and all refined vegetable and seed oils (coconut oil and cold pressed olive oil are fine). We should all know that sugar is bad for health but the new data around industrial seed oils is shockingly bad. It turns out putting industrial waste products in food isn't good for humans. Labelling this garbage as "heart healthy" is the best part -> https://chriskresser.com/how-industrial-seed-oils-are-making-us-sick/
The best defense against this is a strong immune system.
