Philly is going to lose long-term on this despite what fans might consider a short term victory in this game of chicken. They might have already lost leaguewide

Who do you think "leaguewide" the Sixers are losing? The other owners? I can assure you they are supporting the Sixers (especially the non-LA/NYC/MIA marquee destination teams). The players? A CBA negotiation is coming up soon that is going to determin how that massive new TV deal is going to get chopped up (some are saying the cap may go to $175+ million). You think the players are happy that Ben Simmons is giving the owners a stick to bash the players association over the head with in those negotiations? Huh?

I've watched the NBA since 1979. I've never seen anyone get treated the way Simmons did after the loss to the Hawks. Tragic Johnson for the Lakers anyone? Yeah, that's nothing compared to this. Ben got death threats from insane Philly fans. He got thrown under the bus not just by his coach and Embiid but the entire city of Philly crucified this guy.

Embiid's comments were a little more ambiguous.

A couple good role players in that salary slot would 100% make the Sixers more dangerous.

Trust me, we're good. The on court product is not as competitive, obviously, but its a funner watch. Embiid plus shooters has been really fun in the extremely limited time we've gotten to see it.
