I got a question. So about three or four days ago melo had a team USA interview and he said that he wants lin back. I watched the video.

Just a few days ago the article about lin feeling frosty to the knicks came out, lin said if it didn't come from me it's. This whole board put it to rest.

How come its different with Melo. We got about 3 interviews of quotes with Melo saying he wants lin back, but you guys ignore those interviews and say things like melo is jealous.

Couldn't disagree more with the bolded. I'm 100% certain that if the contract the Knicks were debating was 8/8/8, those comments would not have been made.

The contract structure itself IS ridiculous. Something can be ridiculous for its format alone. If you were told you were getting a job that paid you $48K a year, and you were working year round, but your paychecks were $1K monthly from January through August, but then $7K a month for Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec, you'd say that's ridiculous.

You're giving Melo credit that he does not deserve. He's not sophisticated about cap matters -- he doesn't understand structure or whatever.

Wow. You hang out with Melo much? I'm certain Melo and NBA superstars know much more about the salary cap, contract, and luxury tax structure and implications than anyone on this board. They have agents, financial advisers, and lawyers who would have explained this all to them. Besides that, they have the common sense to compare contracts of their peers against their accomplishments. Let's not let our personal biases speak too much for us.

It seems you are ignoring everyone telling you that Knicks/Dolan have a history of overspending and have the unlimited resources to do so. How did guys like Eddy Curry/Jerome James/Allan Houston get money from the Knicks? Wasn't Dolan willing to overpay for them?

Sigh. No offense, but it's difficult to talk to people on this board when they are full of emotion. Just because the Knicks have a history of being frivolous doesn't mean they need to continue to be frivolous. In my opinion the only bad contract that we own right now is Amar'es. Lin is coming off of surgery, and played only a third of a season before he seriously injured himself. It could end up that the Knicks might just add another bad contract. It could be wrong. But I'm tired of the Knicks overpaying for lottery tickets. We did it with JJ, Eddy Curry, Allan Houston, etc. It needs to stop eventually. And Grunwald has been, in my opinion, giving out completely fair deals.

At the end of the day, this is what happened:

Lin went for the money.
Dolan refused to shell out the money.
Teammates getting jealous because of the money.

I can't blame any of the people above because you and I both know if we were in their situations, we would have done the same thing.

Then why was Woodson and Grunwald saying "we matching we matching" since the beginning of offseason?

Did they not expect Houston to pull the loophole?? If they didn't they should be fired immediately because we all knew they would, especially since they did it for Asik just a few weeks before

I'm pretty sure that they feel betrayed by Lin. They assumed that Lin would play nice but when LIn, his agent and Houston went into "business mode" they got all butt-hurt over it. They should have known better rather than making amateur negotiation mistakes such as firstly not offer Lin anything, then laying all of their cards on the table so that everyone could see and expect Lin to play along with them. Lin, on the the hand was doing what was suggested of him which was to try to get the best offer he could elsewhere. The change of the offer sheet certainly adds to the turmoil as well but they should know that no offfer is set until it is signed. That's my opinion on the matter, I'm not saying that Lin's side played this correctly either but the Knicks management should not take business decisions for granted.

It's like any other job, if you have been doing it for 10 years and made 20/hr and you found out a new guy who just came in is making 25/hr, you would be jealous too.

If that guy helps your company make a lot of money and you benefit from his work then I guess you can be ok with that. Especially if like Melo, Amare and Tyson, you're still paid much more money than the new executive. And let's not forget Lin was on a minimum salary contract the past two years.

People need to view it as 8 million a year, even though he is making 15 in that just one year.

If you have an agenda, it's 15mil/yr. People ignore that the first two years are only 5mil/yr.
