Collin Sexton debuted today with 22 points, 5 assists. Looks like a Bledsoe clone in the pick 6-10 range.

Bledsoe didn't have that caliber of handle. Sexton looks ambidextrous weaving thru traffic and he's also very visibly passionate. Might have to go see him at McKale this year.

So far I'm on the Trevon Duvall bandwagon. He's cocky, but the kid can play. Length, athleticism and a willing passer.

I want the team to win, but I am happy with Booker's performance and with Bender's game. We clearly don't have a real pg yet. It is also clear that Len is just not going to make it. I am not going to fret over picks that don't work out. It happens for every GM. You just have to hit some of them.
I was happy with the Lakers game. Booker played like a star, Bender showed how great player he can become, another good game by TJ, Chriss looked solid. We lost because Jackson, James, Ulis, Len played terrible but first one is just a rookie and the others may not be on the team soon. Although I would keep Ulis as a bench player probably. I hope he plays bad just because of his offseason injury.

Also you can forget any free agents signing here unless they get overpayed. Booker said he got 50 texts from players around the league (i'm sure its not an accurate number) but it does show the general perception of the players is that the people in charge have no idea what the **** they are doing. At best we can hope for another eric gordon situation where we overpay for a guy, but given our record and infatuation with tanking and trading away anyone who should actually be on an NBA court, we aren't getting any high level talent.
Don't buy it. Literally every player just wants to get paid, they could give two craps where they play if they are a free agent. Sure, some may want to compete but that in itself would weed us out more than anything else. This is why you see guys like Allen Crabbe sign with the Nets, Deng signing with the Lakers, George Hill signing with the Kings. Z-Bo could have easily went to a contender for maybe veteran's minimum, but he decided to sign with the Kings(for 12mil). I know those guys are considered over-paid, but so far are front office hasn't really overpaid for mediocre players and has given fair contracts. For the regular journeymen in the NBA, the front office has little to do with where they sign.
They may also consider that the players who left are the ones causing trouble. MoBros with the aggravated assault charges, Bledsoe with the stupid agent. IT complained about playing time, but if I remember correctly, he was happy when we signed him since no other team was willing to give him a contract.

This would be one of the only scenarios I would trade Josh Jackson, but I would trade him for D'Lo. Add in the Miami and Bucks 2018 picks and maybe our 2018 2nd round pick.
I know nobody wants to give up JJ, but with the way TJ Warren is playing, I don't see Jackson taking his starting spot in the next 2 years and possibly further. Warren has been improving his game every year and we've seen no regression besides his weird penis injuries. It's crazy to that Warren has kept his FG% hovering around 50% even after taking more shots this year.
This would be an offer I think the Nets would strongly consider but I could still see them refusing it. We risk giving up a player who's ceiling is suppose to be Kawhi Leonard but his floor is MKG while trading for a player that IMO looks like a lite James Harden.

Costs us an additional $15 million next year and $7 million the year after that. Knight's younger, maybe they'd prefer him.
Personally I'd rather not. In any case, I don't deal for George unless Brandon's going the other way.
I would trade for him. He is a two-way PG.
$20M this season and $19M next year. He would replace basically Bledsoe.
Only $1,000,000 guaranteed for 2019/20, according to Eric Pincus.
Ah, thanks. So, Monroe for Hill, straight up? I guess it depends on whether George would work hard here.
I would do that trade.
We are not gonna be able to sign any FA next season, so Hill is a good option.

Sorry I dont see D'lo being anywhere close to JJ and as good as TJ is playing he is still not developing a complete game in that he passes, and defends.
Just say no to idiots!!

Re: Season Speculation, Trade Ideas & Discussion Pt. 3
It is time to start thinking about the move to relevance. We need a starting PG and we need a starting C. To say we want to fill those through the draft seems like a really bad idea because it will be 3-4 years before they are ready to really compete. Booker is ready to compete now and we need to show him we want a winning environment. Those two positions need to be filled through either high-quality free agent pickups or trades. We best be willing to part with the assets McD has built up to get these two spots filled.

I would agree that the Suns - if they go with the draft in June 2018 - like you said, it will be another 3 to 4 years. At some point, McD will have to part with assets. Going back to the Warriors - since they are the model - they had Monte Ellis which turned into Andrew Bogut; they were able to use Biedrins, Rush and two draft picks to get cap space for Iguodala, they signed Livingston - so it wasn't all just the draft. Though Curry, Greene, Klay and Barnes - who Durant took over was the draft.
Its tough to know when to pull the trigger on that veteran.
I really do like the idea of Knight/Monroe for Koufos and HIll. I think a guy like HIll will just settle things down at PG for the remainder of this year and next year so if Ryan does use the 2018 draft for C and PG - it will buy some time. McD can take a chance on a Elfrid Payton if the Magic wanted to dump Biyombo with him. Since Payton is older - he might be ready to "come into his own". But seriously - somehow the Magic would have to take back Knight and Monroe as cannot have both Knight and Biyombo through 2020. That's just too much dead cap space in that year. As it is the Magic are playing well so not sure they would even do that deal.

I agree.
We have a lot of youngsters already, and all of them need time develop. Even a "NBA ready" prospect as Josh Jackson needs time to be an effective player in the NBA.
We have 67 games left on this season yet, we need to get a veteran (or young with experience) PG and try to develop the core correctly.
Ulis is our backup PG for now and for the future...but he is a backup and he is just 21 years old. He is perfect for that backup role IMO but we are asking him for too much if we put him as a starter.
Mike James has been a good adquisition IMO, he is a good third string PG in this league. But he is fine for that role, not as a scorer from the bench.
He can make a good scoring game here or there, but he is not gonna be capable of doing it every single game. He needs to play an smaller role.
With a solid PG in place we can play Booker at PG too, but like a good option to change the pace of a game and not like a need.

I'm at a loss for words...Qwigglez wrote:Trade Chriss, both Miami picks and Bucks pick for D'Lo. Then go after Boogie Cousins in the offseason. We should have enough fire power to convince him to play for us since the Pelicans will be the only playoff caliber team who can offer him the max.

Ulis/Knight/Jackson/Alan/Chandler

The idea of not being in a rush can be deceiving.darealjuice wrote:The good thing about the point guard situation is that there is no rush. There's nothing wrong with letting our young guys play this season out and grow under Triano, and having a top draft pick could be particularly huge for us this year with how strong the top 5 is. Keep in mind that we have 7 first round picks over the next 4 years with one of the youngest cores in the league. There's no way we aren't going to be wheeling and dealing going forward, and you can bet that a stud point guard is on McD's wish list. No one appears to be available now, but it's only a matter of time til someone is, and there aren't a lot of teams in need of a point guard that can beat an offer we put down.
Not doing anything can be seen as setting the team up not to win. You do that more than once, the rest of your players will want out.
We better start making moves towards competing, as others said, before we lose the last glimpse of hope that we have in Booker.

I'd do that George Hill/Koufos for Tank Master/Monroe
Clearing cap for 2019, George Hill was always the best prototype PG to play next to Booker.
Koufos is probably better than Alex.

They are not gonna trade for Brandon Knightmare. We would have to add first round picks in that offer.
Keep it simple... Greg Monroe and a 2nd for George Hill. They can buy out Monroe and save around $3M this season and $19M next year.
Fox has been really good for them, earlier than expected. He is ready to play 35 mpg. And they have Frank Mason III too, so suddenly they don't need Hill. Good opportunity for us to get a good PG.
